Ingredients

  1. 6 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped into small pieces
  2. 6 tablespoons vegetable shortening or virgin or extra-virgin coconut oil
  3. 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, optional
  4. Kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate, shortening, vanilla and a pinch of salt in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring constantly with a rubber spatula, until smooth, about 4 minutes. Pour the melted chocolate mixture into a small bowl. Pour over ice cream and let harden, or use as a coating for snacks like fruit or pretzels.
