- 1 ⅛ cups butter, softened
- 1 ¼ cups white sugar
- 6 eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- ⅔ cup black sesame seeds
- 2 cups self-rising flour
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Lightly stir in the flour to make a smooth batter, and pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean, about 40 minutes. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes before removing to cool completely on a wire rack.

Mediocre at best. There are better simple cake recipes on this site, by far.
Good cake.
My daughter made this cake recently for her friend who baked cookies for our family. They were so delicious (I must ask for the recipe), but we needed to return the plate they came with. So, I decided at that moment to teach my children about a tradition I learned from my family when I was a little girl: “when somebody gives you a plate (could be container, bowl, etc.), and you know they are expecting it back, it is a very kind gesture to return something in it”. I think it doesn’t need to be a food item, or something you have to bake; it could be a card saying a simple thank you or the wonders about the food received, it is up to your creativity. I remember my auntie sometimes used to just return it with some fresh vegetable or fruit from her garden. My daughter went online and found this delightful and easy vanilla cake recipe. She did not use the black sesame seeds, but surely we would love to try it sometime.
