Swedish Apple Pie

With this recipe, I took first place in an apple bake-off competition. I’ve never tasted an apple pie this good or easy. Believe me, it doesn’t need a crust and doesn’t have one. Granny Smith apples are the best apples for pies, therefore I always use them. Enjoy!!!!

I have never been a good pie maker, but this turned out great. The crust was tender yet crunchy. I would add a little salt into the apples next time.

I make this every fall with fresh apples, hands down easiest pie recipe I’ve ever made

This apple pie was probably the worst one I have ever made. It was thick and unappetizing. Will not be using this recipe ever again.

my pie eating family has decreed this the best pie ever. I may never make an apple pie with a bottom crust again!

I have been making this recipe for years. It always comes out great. If using nuts I prefer walnuts but I usually put in raisins instead. Not everyone likes nuts

Used half brown and white sugar for 3/4 c total. Forgot the cornstarch but it still set up OK

This recipe was delicious. Had everything needed to bake. I will definitely bake this as often as I can. I did sprinkle a mixture of cinnamon and sugar in too before baking.

I made a sugar–free version by using 6 apples and replacing sugar with 1/2 cup Stevia. Since Stevia does not draw juices out of fruit, I added 1 cupette no-sugar-added applesauce mixed with 1 cupette water, with lemon zest and some lemon juice mixed in. I increased the spices by adding nutmeg, ginger, allspice, and cloves. I reduced the margarine to 1/2 cup. This is really a cobbler rather than a pie, but it is delicious and easy.

Used less sugar and 1/2 cup butter. A family favorite.

I have made this marvelous pie five or six times already, and I’m getting ready to make it again in two days. Every single time I’ve served it to guests, they’ve raved.

I made this following Rose Grabowski’s recommendations, after reviewing the original recipe. I used tart Granny Smith apples, filling the deep dish pie plate with more apples than asked for. I sprinkled a little lemon juice over the apples. For the mixture sprinkled over the apples I used doubled the cinnamon, and added 1/4 tsp. corn starch as Rosie said. For the top crust I used 1/2 dark brown sugar and 1/2 white sugar. The results were outstanding! I am not a fan of pie crust and this was perfect; the filling wasn’t overwhelmed by soggy bottom crust. My guests all raved about it. My new favorite apple pie!

I did what someone named zoey recommended…. brown sugar on apples, 1/2 cup white sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup butter in my topping mixture. It’s amazing to me!

Delicious! I used 1/2 white and 1/2 brown sugar. That was the only change. We loved it. Not too sweet for us. Perfect.
