There is no need for an elaborate presentation. Pour it out into large dishes to serve. Serve it with some crusty bread and let the bread absorb up the liquid instead of using spoons.

Ingredients
- ¼ cup minced onion
- 1 tablespoon Italian-style salad dressing
- 1 ½ pounds ground turkey
- 1 ¼ cups Italian-seasoned bread crumbs
- 5 cloves garlic, crushed
- 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 2 (14.5 ounce) cans Italian-style diced tomatoes
- 1 (26 ounce) jar marinara sauce
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
Instructions
- Cook onion and Italian dressing in a small sauté pan over medium heat for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly, about 5 minutes.
- Combine turkey, bread crumbs, garlic, sautéed onions, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a bowl; mix well.
- Combine diced tomatoes, marinara sauce, and dried basil in a second bowl; set aside.
- Form 1/2 of the turkey mixture into 1 1/2-inch meatballs and layer them in the bottom of a slow cooker. Pour 1/2 of the diced tomato mixture over meatballs. Form remaining turkey mixture into meatballs and layer with remaining tomato mixture.
- Cover and cook on Low for 8 hours or High for 4 hours.

Very good but too much Italian seasoning. I would use regular diced tomatoes instead of Italian diced tomatoes to help even it out a bit. I also used ground beef and ground pork instead of ground turkey, so it’s a versatile recipe that can be used for any meat. Loved it. Would definitely make it again with a bit less Italian seasoning!
I loved it! Very easy to prepare, and so healthy. I have a question for Cheryl. Maybe I missed something, but I couldn’t find where you add the two teaspoons of basil.
So pleasantly surprised! Very flavorful! Only small change was that I used a full 32oz jar of Rao’s tomato basil sauce and only one can of diced tomatoes. Will definitely make again.
Made exactly as written except I had some leftover mozzarella cheese pearls that I stuffed in the center of these meatballs. They turned out really well. Served with spaghetti and a Caesar salad. I think what sauce you use could make or break this (as with any similar recipe) so be sure and choose one you love. I used one I hadn’t tried before but next time I will use my favorite sauce and this will be my “go to” meatball recipe!
I served these as meatball subs and it was really good! I’d maybe use more seasonings to add more flavor, but it was pretty good overall!
