Super easy to make. I added a tablespoon of tomato paste the second time to thicken it up a bit and cayenne pepper for a bit more kick.
this did not taste like tikka masala, it kinda just tasted like tomato-ey chicken
Loved it…just the correct amount of spices for a fabulous flavor and texture.
I often feel that something is missing when I make Indian food, but this recipe feels complete. It has that certain something.
Great recipe ! Very easy to make, I used a little more garlic and cilantro about 1/2 the recommended salt and used powdered ginger instead of fresh root. I also used bone in/skin in thighs. I put it over some brown rice and everyone loved it. Will definitely make it again.
Overall, the recipe was really water-y. I think doing it again, we would either not use canned tomatoes or cook the chicken first to remove any moisture
Very good and simple. Thanks!
Most amazing thing I’ve made! I used drained diced tomatoes as I didn’t have crushed. Added 1/2tsp Indian hot chili powder and used 2% Greek plain yogurt as I’ve heard fat free curdling . Yummy yummy
A real winner !
I made this as written. My guy and I agreed that the recipe is solid, meaning the flavor is good, but there is not even a little bit of kick. I would definitely chop and add some fresh chiles next time. Tikka Masala isn’t supposed to burn your face off, but there should be a little kick. We threw some pepper flakes in, but it wasn’t ideal. Next time… Seeded, chopped fresh chiles.
4.5 stars if possible. Too much garam masala. Will half it at least next time.that’s the only change I’d make.
Good spices but way too watery! I would add some potatoes to thicken and maybe some eggplant or peppers
This recipe is amazing. I too, substituted the heavy cream for fat free sour cream and it turned out well. Otherwise, followed the recipe. I’ve made this on several occasions and it has been delicious every time. The leftovers freeze well.
Chicken tikka masala is one of our favorite dishes and I was excited to see this super easy version. Unfortunately I thought it was just ok. Not spicy enough and chicken was dry. I’m not a fan of chicken in the slow cooker on any day as I have yet to fix it where it doesn’t dry out, but that aside, this sauce was a fine texture, but a little bland and much sweeter than we prefer. Thanks for a great idea – I’ll keep trying to tweak it a bit (maybe sautéing chicken at the end and just adding it, and certainly spicing up the sauce).
This was tasty and healthy. I don’t care for some Indian dishes, but the spicing in this was good and not overpowering.
I’ve made this several times, no changes, and I’m asked for the recipe every time I serve it to someone new. Everybody loves it. Thanks!
The whole family liked this dish! I thought the yogurt taste was a bit too strong, so I would use less yogurt next time. Added some cardamom pods for aroma and fragrance. It’s not quite what you would get in India. But it’s easy to prepare and family-friendly.
I added some peanut butter toward the end to create a creamy taste. Will definitely make it again!
I really want to like this dish as is was super simple and I love all types of curry. It was left wanting. Flavour was just not there. Had to add more of everything plus added clove, mustard seed, and fenugreek so that my family would eat it. Added tumric for colour. Also u never add your dry spices straight to liquid. Always heat up ur spices in a hot pan with a bit of oil for 1-2 minutes to release the flavours first. I guess this is a good base curry for newbies.
This is a great slow cooker Tikka Masala! I added red pepper flake to kick up the spice factor, and added more garam masala then was required for the recipe. Served over basmati rice with saffron! Awesome meal and recipe!
Didn’t have fresh ginger or garlic so had to use powdered and this recipe still turned out so tasty and was super easy to throw in the pot with frozen chicken thighs before heading out for the day.
