It was a little too salty and I used the low sodium soy sauce. The chicken was super tender. Next time I will reduce the soy sauce by 1/2 cup and double the honey to make it a little sweeter and balance it out.

So I had a friend that grew up overseas and they taught me their version of Chicken Adobo. I use chicken with skin and saute until browned. The ingredients of this dish pair well along with banana peppers on the side. I would suggest adding a 1/2 lemon for acidity to even out the flavor. Over all….. Not bad:)

Basically soy marinated chicken. Don’t bother with the honey or bay leaves- the overwhelming flavor is soy sauce. And the sauce that gets reduced at the end is sooo salty, even with low sodium soy – -when you are boiling down the soy sauce, the salt stays As someone else pointed out, the braising and the grilling times are enough to cook the chicken. Time reduction on both might help.

Good recipe overall. I thought because so much soy sauce it was going to be too salty but it actually wasn’t, it was very flavorful.

This will work with Pork ribs, Beef ribs or steaks and chicken pieces… It is also part of my culture from being an Pacific Islander…

Too Salty. Almost inedible. I even on put 1/2 of the liquid on the chicken, still way too salty.

yes, I didn’t read the remarks till after I made it, with regular soy sauce it is overly salty, I’ll have to try it again with less soy sauce

Boot leather if you follow the timing and use the mechanically bones and skinned thighs from the store (costco in this instance). Grilling gives a nice texture, but timings for each part of the recipe (simmer then grill) are almost enough in themselves to cook the chicken. And too much liquid for the quantity of chicken.

Very easy and came out extremely tender. Used boneless, skinless thighs. Added liquid smoke and Worcestershire sauce as well. Did put under broiler for a bit but don’t think I would the next time.

Made it twice, & it’s our new fav way to make thighs.

It was too cold to grill so I made this in a skillet and it came out wonderful! I’ve made this a few times now and it’s a favorite!

Made it with low sodium soy sauce. Make sure you spray your tablespoon with cooking spray to make measuring the honey easier. Crowd favorite. Every time I’ve made it people have asked for the recipe. I put it over copycat Chipotle Chilantro Lime Rice.

Fantastic. Admittedly I added sesame oil, sesame seeds and a few tps of crushed red pepper. My additions are more my suiting. But the over all product was very tasty.

What is the preferred type of vinegar to use in this recipe? I haven’t made this recipe yet but I gave it 4 stars so I wouldn’t skew the ratings. Wish submitters would list either brands or specific types of ingredients so I have a better chance for a positive outcome! Thanks

Came out so delicious . I found that I didn’t like it with too much vinegar because It was overwhelming so I just added some more soy sauce and brown sugar instead of just honey and it came out wonderful . I grilled half and the other half I just ate with some white rice . So much flavor!
