They turn out beautifully and taste delicious with strawberries on top. Also lovely.

Reviews
Loved the recipe. Based on reviews, I added more red pepper, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, basil and oregano and added little more salt and garlic powder on top of the fresh garlic of the recipie. I would like to add a can of chopped tomatoes on top of the plum tomatoes but as I made it, tasted gourmet and I will make again!
I did as other reviewers suggested and added a TBSP of Italian seasoning, and a 9 oz. bag of fresh spinach. This is very easy to make it it taste good! The sauce for me did not get as thick as the picture, but it was still very good. I will make again, and experiment with spicy sausage instead of sweet.
Love it! I added spinach and sprinkled Parmesan cheese on top.
My family and I really liked this dish. I adjusted the ingredients a bit to accommodate 1 lb. of pasta. Also, I used San Marzano tomatoes, and because of their consistency, it wasn’t necessary to drain them. I just roughly crushed them by hand in a bowl. I also added about 1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar to up the acid a bit and that was key, along with a tablespoon of Italian seasoning. I topped ours with grated Pecorino-Romano cheese and freshly sliced basil.
I think I made a different recipe, I sliced my Italian sausage, added onion and garlic but I threw in half a jar of Alfredo sauce and chicken broth instead of heavy cream and threw some spinach in with my pasta. Came out so good! I also added some extra Italian seasoning, salt and pepper to the sauce. Came out so good!
I didn’t have a can of plum tomatoes, so I used 2 cans of diced tomatoes. I don’t know if I drained them enough, because the sauce didn’t get thick, but it still was very tasty! I will definitely make it again and again and…
This recipe was excellent. My family loved it.
This is really good. I have made it before and it is always a hit! Just the right amount of taste! It will remain in my regular meal rotation.
Very good recipe, improved with adding Italian style tomatoes with basil, garlic and oregano. Brought more flavor. Could also add some Italian seasoning to the recipe.
I have made this multiple times, not varying from the recipe. My only suggestion is: drain the fat from the meat. I love the recipe, and it’s time to make it again, minus the grease, it gives me heartburn.
So simple, yet so delicious! I served this with the Balsamic Bruschetta from this site, Caesar Salad and a bacon wrapped filet. This meal was far better than a restaurant!
Made it exactly as written with only one exception. I used hot italian sausage instead of pepper flakes due to only having hot on hand. Son and I loved it as is.
Delicious with just the right amount of heat.
This recipe was quick and simple although I did add a bit of Italian blend grated cheese and a bit more cream to it, it turned out fantastic! My wife and I prefer the spicy ground Italian sausage also. Kicked up the flavor a bit with Italian seasoning… Most of the flavor comes from the renderings combined with olive oil during browning. Highly recommended recipe here!
I have made this recipe as written up several times. The family loves it. Tonight I had to use up some Italian sausage but didn’t have canned whole tomatoes or bowtie pasta on hand. So I substituted medium shell pasta and a can of crushed tomato. Still came out great.
This is my grandchildren’s favorite meal. I do make a few changes because of their taste. I use grilled chicken instead of the sausage. I don’t add the red pepper flakes because it’s too spicy, but when making it for adults I do! I put in broccoli since I need them to have greens. Finally I do add parmesan cheese… it’s pasta right! Excellent!
Will definitely be one of my go-to recipes for the future. Delicious, super easy, and fairly cheap. I used hot italian sausage instead of the sweet and then just skipped the red pepper.
My husband said it’s a keeper. I halved the amount of tomatoes and just used a can of diced w/basil and oregano. I also added a cornstarch slurry at the end to make the sauce thicker and used about a half a cup more cream. I may add a can of mushrooms next time. We really liked it!
Not bad. The best part of the recipe is the simplicity. It leaves a lot of room to add your own stamp to it. As a result, I made this with Corizo sausage instead of Italian, and I added squash and mushrooms to increase the amount of vegetables, and make it a one pot type of meal. As a personal preference I also will reduce the amount of heavy cream down to a cup, the one and a half cup was too much for me. I also had some chicken breast that I needed to use, so I cut it against the grain and sauteed that and added that as well.
I can’t express the taste, you got to trie it.
A new weeknight quick and delicious family favorite… instead of the plum tomatoes.. I used two cans fire roasted tomatoes and I added fresh mushrooms with fresh spinach for a hearty and nutritious meal! Thank you for this recipe!
