Air Fryer General Tso’s Chicken

  3.9 – 7 reviews  • Chinese

This well-known General Tso’s Chinese chicken meal may be freshly prepared in your kitchen and delivered to your table more quickly than takeout. As an added bonus, the chicken is air-fried rather than deep-fried, making it a healthier option. Serve, if preferred, over rice.

Ingredients

  1. ½ cup chicken broth
  2. 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  3. 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  4. 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  5. 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  6. 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  7. 1 teaspoon Sriracha
  8. 1 pound skinless, boneless chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces
  9. 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  10. 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  11. cooking spray
  12. 1 teaspoon chopped scallions, or to taste
  13. 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds, or to taste

Instructions

  1. For the sauce: Combine broth, sesame oil, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, garlic, and Sriracha in a medium saucepan. Whisk until cornstarch is dissolved. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to low.
  2. Preheat an air fryer to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  3. Place chicken, cornstarch, and soy sauce into a bowl and stir until chicken is evenly coated. Transfer chicken to the air fryer basket. Spray with cooking spray.
  4. Cook in the preheated air fryer for 8 minutes. Shake the basket, breaking up any pieces that have stuck together, and spray with cooking spray again. Continue to cook until chicken is no longer pink in the center, about 8 minutes more.
  5. Transfer chicken to a large bowl. Pour sauce over chicken and toss to coat. Garnish with scallions and sesame seeds.

I followed this recipe to the letter. Only thing I didn’t have was scallions. This was so very very good. My husband said this is one that we will make again and again. It was very simple to make too.

Recipe makes no sense, especially directions regarding the corn starch and soy sauce. It says nothing about separating those two items into separate batches.

Easy and fast, buy missing something flavor wise.
