Ingredients

  1. 1 cup water
  2. 1/2 cup honey
  3. 1 small cucumber, thinly sliced
  4. 1 pink grapefruit, cut into 12 wedges
  5. 8 ounces vodka
  6. 1/3 cup fresh lime juice
  7. Pink Himalayan salt, in a grinder

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup water and the honey. Bring to a boil and shut off the heat. Transfer to a bowl to cool. Refrigerate.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine half of the cucumber slices with the grapefruit segments and some simple syrup. Muddle them by pressing down on them with a whisk to extract the juices and lightly crush the cucumbers. Add the vodka, lime juice, some more simple syrup and 1 cup lightly crushed ice. Pour into 4 rocks glasses and grind a little salt over the top. Alternatively, serve in a pitcher and sprinkle with the salt as you pour the individual drinks.

Great recipe however you must watch the episode to get it right! Whoever is transcribing these recipes to the internet needs to pay attention! I have found many mistakes on here.

Watched this episode and can’t wait to make this.
Online recipe does not include Alex’s shortcut to make simple syrup with honey.
Does anyone remember proportion of honey and water? Did she whisk cold or heat briefly to dissolve?

Alex has done it again. A great recipe. HOWEVER, there are SEVERAL sentences missing in the 3×5 card directions. This is really annoying for I have to either pencil in the missing information, or take the time to completely retype the recipe myself. You might as well not offer this option anymore. Every recipe in every site I have visited has the same problem with the 3×5 card style. Does anyone edit these before they’re added to the Food Network Sites?

I love Salty Dogs. My drink of choice. This was a GREAT recipe. Very refreshing!
