Instructions

  1. Trim store-bought pie dough into an 8-inch square. Pulse 1 cup dried figs, 1/2 cup pitted dates, a pinch of cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon orange zest, 1 1/2 teaspoons orange juice and 1 tablespoon butter in a food processor. Spread over the dough and roll into a log; chill 30 minutes. Cut into 1/2-inch-thick slices and bake 12 to 15 minutes at 375 degrees.

Simple recipe, simple taste. Not worth the making given the price of figs and dates.

I love them and I am going to make a lote for Christmas

Darn tasty. Aside from the expense of figs and pitted dates, this was a no-brainer. Easy as can be to make. Easy to assemble and easy to bake. Next time I make my own pie dough, but that aside, if you like a Fig Newton cookie, you’ll love these. Also looks impressive.
