Ingredients

  1. 4 scoops of ground coffee beans, Colombian or other variety – a coffee scoop is equivalent to a rounded tablespoon

  4. 4 jiggers (1 ounce shots) coffee liqueur (recommended: Kahlua)
  5. 1 canister whipped cream with spray top

Instructions

  1. Place coffee, cocoa and cinnamon in a filter for coffee brewing. Make 4 cups of brewed mocha-cinnamon coffee. Pour a shot of coffee liquor in the bottom of a coffee mug. After having an authentic “Irish coffee” in Dublin a few years ago, I was really excited to try this Mexican version. Let me say that it is extremely easy to make and it tastes just as good as the Irish version. I drank it out of an Irish coffee glass and visually, it is a work of art. I’ve looked up as many Mexican Coffee recipes as possible online, and this one is by far the easiest to make and most enjoyable to drink.

I made this the other night and paired it with Key Lime Pie. One of the best dessert experiences we’ve ever had at home.

Instead of using regular coffee and cocoa powder, I used Folger’s Dark Chocolate Truffle and didn’t put the cocoa in. The cinnamon added a great flavor.

No problems with my paper coffee filter.

Loved it. Thanks for the recipe.

I thought this was a easy, quick, and delicious recipe to make for a dessert coffee. I was worried about the overflow and disappointed that no one posted the type of filter they used that had trouble. I tried it anyway with my basket filter (the gold kind that you just wash after each use and reuse) and had no trouble at all. Maybe the paper filters are too fine….

It was a hit and everyone loved it. I garnished with a cinnamon stick and more than one person asked for seconds!

The cocoa powder and cinnamon clogged the filter in my coffee machine. The results were potentially hazardous as the water and coffee, cocoa powder and cinnamon ended up all over my counter and soaking a few electrical appliances. Not such a great idea. Thanks Rach.

I love Mexican Hot Chocolate, so I was pretty sure I would enjoy this also. My friends that I served it to were asking me what was my secret? It was a big hit at our get together.
