I tested a batch of cookies by adding a hint of raw almonds and cutting the dough into stars. The cookies tasted great, but they were crunchy because I almost overbaked them. Next time, I should decrease the baking time for more flavor and a softer texture. I should freeze the dough before cutting to retain its shape from the cookie cutter.
Easy and sooooooooooooo good, I make these cookies every holiday. They are delicious!
Wonderful I have made these cookies at least 5 times,we all love them. They cookies are easy to make and come out every time. Thank You Robin Miller, you turned me into a baker.
I approached this very carefully after reading some of the problems that others had. I watched Robin make these cookies on her show this week. She didn’t work the dough very much so I followed her directions and “pressed” the cherries and nuts into the rectangle of dough then folded it back over and used the glad wrap to help reshape the log. I put it into the freezer for 5 min before slicing with a sharpened knife and didn’t have any problem. The cookies are quick and easy, look beautiful, and taste yummy! Thanks Robin!!!!
I read the reviews about it sticking. I added 1/2 cup of flour to the cookie dough before adding the cherries and nuts. That made it less sticky, then I just made drop cookies rather than roll them back into a log and slicing. They were still beautiful.
I just made a fabulous version of these cookies for a holiday party. i chopped pistachios and cranberries and added 1/4 tsp of lemon zest. after they baked i drizzeled white chocolate over them. they looked and tasted absolutely wonderful. everyone wanted the recipe!
OK. Everyone at the Habitat staff surprise Christmas wanted this recipe, too!
I used the entire sugar cookie log. I didn’t follow the instructions from the video so the nuts and cherries were in the middle of the cookie making them more likely to crumble. I would recommend following the video example or making your own dough and adding the nuts and cherries.
I just made these. The recipe is incorrect. You need to use the entire pilsbury sugar cookie dough 16.5 ounce. I measured out the 1/2 c nuts, 1/2 c cherries and 1/2 the cookie dough (8 oz as recipe calls for) and it was clearly not enough dough. So I threw in the rest of the dough and it is perfect! I see notes of dough being sticky. Well, yes it is, but add all the ingredients in a bowl and use a wooden spoon to mix. I wrapped my finished mixture in parchment paper and chilled in fridge for an hour. Sliced, baked, cooled and dipped in White Choc. Perfect!
Next time I am thinking, sugar cookie dough, rasins, and walnuts!

I make these every Christmas and give them to friends. They are a absolute hit! Instead of white chocolate, I use semi-sweet chocolate. I also use whatever pre-made sugar cookie dough I can find. I would like to try making them with homemade sugar cookie dough, though.
I used the Pillsbury pre-made dough. I added Craisins and pecans. Dough would not cut for me. Ended up using a cookie scoop, then patting them down with the bottom of a glass. Dipped 1/2 cookie in white chocolate, which ended up being too sweet. Next time I will drizzle with white chocolate. I would also make my own sugar cookie dough.
