Chocolate Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie

  4.3 – 17 reviews  • Baking
This mammoth super-chocolatey cookie will satisfy any serious chocoholic. Cooking it in a cast-iron skillet makes the edges extra crisp while the inside stays rich and fudgy.
Level: Easy
Total: 1 hr 10 min
Active: 15 min
Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

  1. 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter
  2. 1 cup granulated sugar
  3. 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  4. 2 large eggs, beaten
  5. 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  6. 2 cups all-purpose flour (see Cook’s Note)
  7. 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  8. 1 teaspoon fine salt
  9. 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  10. One 12-ounce bag chocolate chips (2 cups)

Instructions

  1. Position a rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees F. Melt the butter in a 10-inch cast-iron skillet over medium heat, then set aside to cool slightly, 5 minutes.
  2. Whisk the granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla together in a large bowl until smooth. Stir in the melted butter. (Do not wipe out the skillet.) Whisk the flour, cocoa powder, salt and baking soda together in another bowl. Stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing well with a wooden spoon until dough is homogenous (do not overmix). Stir in the chocolate chips.
  3. Use a rubber spatula to scrape the dough into the prepared skillet, gently spreading it to the edges and smoothing the top. Bake until the top is cracked, the edges are brown and crisp and the center is still soft, 40 to 45 minutes. Cool on a wire rack for 15 minutes. Serve warm, cut into wedges.

Added 2 TBS of milk to make the batter a little less dry. Only needed 30 mins to cook.

I made this Chocolate Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie recipe and followed the directions. The batter was so thick that I figured it wouldn’t be good and it wasn’t. So dry and hard. Will never make this again.

We baked this to use a base for hot fudge sundaes. All I can say is “yum”!
We didn’t have to dirty a ton of dishes, which is always a bonus.
My 11 year old did most of the work (aside from lifting the cast iron skillet) and she did not need any help.
We will definitely make this again.

Very easy to make, delicious In the Live Class Chef said that nuts are optional soooooo, I added chopped Pecans ❣ I used 9 oz of Dark Chocolate Chips figured that having Coco Powder it would be Chocolaty enough which it was. After skillet came out of the oven I sprinkled Flaky Finishing Salt on top
