I too am surprised by critical reviews as we love these bars. Make them each Xmas and they go faster than any others. Husband and kids as well as friends love them. 25 minutes is usually right on the money with our oven as well.

I was surprised to read the criticisms of this recipe. I have been making it for my annual Cookie Party for several years and it is a big hit — a favorite of mine and many of my guests. If the bars aren’t set at 25 minutes, I bake them slightly longer, but I find that time to be pretty accurate with my oven. And I always bake them in a 9 1/2 x 13 ” pan. These freeze well if made ahead. I just let them defrost at room temp for a few hours before serving.

First of all, if I used a pan with the listed dimensions, it would be almost 10 feet long. Second, using my best judgement to figure out what she really meant, I took “9 1/2×113-inch baking pan” to mean a 9×13 baking pan, and baked it at 25 minutes like instructed. I pulled it out of the oven and found hot dough. I have added at least 25 minutes to the cooking time, and now I don’t even know if they will turn out at all. Like others said, it might turn out on a jelly roll pan, but I liked the idea of the 9×13 size.

The sad thing is, I was really looking forward to trying them, and now I don’t even want to eat them I’m so disappointed in the instructions. If the information were fixed, I might try again, but I’m altogether disappointed.

Please fix this recipe!!

We were very disappointed. The baking time is not long enough for a 13×9 pan – perhaps if a jelly roll pan was used it might be long enough. 25 minutes did not cook the bottom layer. Would not recommend.
