Ingredients

  1. 3 tablespoons Greek yogurt
  2. 3 tablespoons chile sauce
  3. 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  4. 2 tablespoons barbeque sauce (such as HP®)
  5. 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  6. 4 cloves garlic, minced
  7. ½ teaspoon ground white pepper
  8. ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  9. 1 pinch ground cinnamon
  10. 1 pound boneless chicken breast, cut into cubes
  11. ½ cup Greek yogurt
  12. 3 tablespoons tahini
  13. 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  14. 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  15. ½ teaspoon ground white pepper
  16. ½ teaspoon salt
  17. ¼ cup cooking oil
  18. 6 pita bread rounds
  19. ½ head cabbage, finely shredded
  20. 1 onion, cut into matchstick-size pieces
  21. 2 pickled cucumbers, sliced

Instructions

  1. Combine 3 tablespoons Greek yogurt, chile sauce, vinegar, barbeque sauce, soy sauce, minced garlic, 1/2 teaspoon white pepper, black pepper, and cinnamon in a bowl; add chicken. Marinate chicken in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Mix 1/2 cup Greek yogurt, tahini, lemon juice, chopped garlic, 1/2 teaspoon white pepper, and salt in a bowl until sauce is smooth.
  3. Heat cooking oil in a skillet or wok over high heat; add chicken. Cook and stir until chicken is no longer pink in the center and juices run clear, 12 to 15 minutes.
  4. Toast pita bread on a flat pan or skillet over medium heat until golden, 1 to 2 minutes per side.
  5. Spread sauce on pita bread (or make pocket in the pita and spread sauce inside). Layer chicken, cabbage, onion, and pickles over sauce. Fold or wrap sandwiches with aluminum foil or parchment paper.

Good recipe! I only cut up enough chicken for 2 because I wasn’t sure how it would taste. Now I’m probably going to marinades

This is really good! I was a little nervous that I could smell the barbecue sauce in the marinade, but the flavor blended well when cooked. I let the chicken marinate overnight, and then made sure to drain the chicken (there was a bit of liquid with the chicken after sitting overnight) before cooking. I cooked the chicken until the marinate had completely cooked off, and it was so good!

Made as written and these were good. The chicken wasn’t very crispy and that was my only complaint. It was flavorful but not crispy.
