Cream Cheese Ball

This is the ultimate party recipe. You can make it ahead of time, and everyone loves it! Change up the cheese from smoked Cheddar to sharp Cheddar, Gouda, or your other favorite hard cheese.

Ingredients

  1. One 8-ounce block cream cheese, at room temperature
  2. 2 teaspoons Miss Brown’s House Seasoning, recipe follows
  3. 3/4 cup shredded smoked Cheddar
  4. 1/2 cup chopped green olives
  5. 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  6. 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  7. Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  8. 3/4 cup finely chopped toasted pecans
  9. 1/4 cup minced fresh chives
  10. Crackers, for serving
  11. 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  12. 1 teaspoon onion powder
  13. 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
  14. 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  15. 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Beat the cream cheese and House Seasoning in a bowl with an electric mixer at medium speed until creamy. Stir in the Cheddar, olives, lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Combine the pecans and chives in a shallow dish or plate. Use a piece of plastic wrap or parchment paper to shape the cream cheese mixture into a ball. Roll the ball in the pecan mixture, pressing until the entire cheese ball is coated. Refrigerate until ready to serve, at least 1 hour or up to overnight. Serve with crackers.
  3. Stir together the garlic and onion powders, paprika, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Store in an airtight container.

Made it today. Used White Cheddar from Pt. Reyes Cheese.
Really good. Followed the recipe. Used Rustic Bakery olive oil and salt cracker bits and my home made crostinis. I repeat: really good and I don’t really like cheese balls, but this recipe is flavorful, easy and attractive…..and fast! Having it with chardonnay now. Expect it would work with other adult beverages.
