I always add a can of corn mixed with the hamburger and cream of mushroom soup… some like green beans.
This was so easy to make! I added peas and corn instead of green beans. My husband said to add more cheese on top next time. It only took 35 minutes to cook
Super easy, so of course I had to complicate it a little. Seasoned the beef with onion, lots of garlic, and a packet of French onion soup mix. I doubled the recipe and added a can of cream of mushroom and a can of organic “cream of cheddar and jalepeno” condensed soup I found at HEB. I’m sure any condensed soup less bland than cream of mushroom would work. Added frozen mixed vegetables, and salted the top before the shredded cheese since I hate an unseasoned tater tot. Family loved it including my two youngest and pickiest boys.
It turned out amazing, I added my own touch of Memphis style babrbacue seasoning to it, it was delicious
The whole family loved it! I’m making it for the second time tonight! So easy!
The instructions shouldn’t be in a video it was confusing and wasted time also its false information saying that prep would take 5 minutes on the page and 7-10 for actual prep
I grew up in MN and had this on a weekly basis. As most Minnesotans do. To the point where it’s served regularly in schools and it’s present at every potluck. Even though the body shapes and the State Fair would have you believe cheese is incorporated to everything, Tater Tot Hotdish is not one of them. Leave the cheese off. It doesn’t belong on Tater Tot Hotdish. Furthermore, make your own condensed soup. It’s easier, cheaper, and much less unhealthy than the canned stuff. Double the meat and triple the “soup.” Use mixed veggies instead of just green beans. Whatever you do, don’t destroy a tasty dish with cheese.
This was good and easy to make. I turned the ground beef into taco meat and diced some pickled jalapenos and mixed them in. Also squeezed a little habanero condiment on it before eating for a nice spicy kick.
Pretty darn easy and tasty. Only changes I made were to cut the amount of cheese, and I did add a can of drained green beans. Was a wee bit dry so I will add a little milk next time. All in all an enjoyable comfort food.
Very easy to make. Didn’t have cheddar cheese so sub Colby/Jack cheese and came out good. May use a smaller casserole dish but will be put on the menu cycle to make again.
I used garlic cream of mushroom soup added diced green onion on top served with sour cream.
Decent, easy recipe! I did add a half tablespoon of Everything seasoning to the mix and a teaspoon of minced garlic. Still a little bland. I cooked the meat in a 10 inch iron skillet. I assembled the ingredients right in the same pan and put the whole thing in the oven to bake as directed. One dirty pot = clean up bliss!!
Very simple and feeds a family. Love the recipe.
This was so simple but oh my goodness it’s poppin’ with flavor! Out of all the recipes I have made from this site, this was my favorite one so far. I will definitely be making this again! Thank you so much for sharing! It was quick, easy and tasty.
This needed more seasoning but nothing a little trusty taco seasoning couldn’t fix. I did add a little bit of chili powder and garlic powder as well. This stuff freezes so well and is a hit with the family. Great for those “Just don’t have it in me” nights. Pop it out of the freezer and straight into the oven. I do not bake mine before I freeze because the cheese gets hard. Keeps frozen for a month or two in my house.
Very good but def needed more seasoning than said
Could be better. Use 1-1/2 pound lean hamburger cooked with onions, drain, then add both cream of mushroom and cream of chicken soup, for a richer taste. Add cheese then top with TaterTots for crispier TaterTots.
Very basic recipe. Took many liberties with it. Added onion and cut up red bell pepper with some garlic to the ground beef. Cut up some chicken nuggets with the tots on the base layer. Then put bacon chunks on top with the extra tots and cheese. Added lines of homemade bbq sauce too. Seasoning added was something more tasty than salt and pepper alone.
delicious recipe. My husband approved. Next time i will alter it with onions and some diced mushrooms. But very good.
I added some homemade salsa and La Victoria taco sauce to my meat. I also added a layer of cream cheese and a small can of green chili’s and used cream of chicken soup.
Delicious! Definitely too small for a 9×13. I used a 9×9. I think throwing in a can of veggies would be great too. So easy to make! Only 4 ingredients and it’s so good!
