Seafood Casserole

This recipe has been handed down to Ree from her mother, who served it at her dinner parties in the 1970s. Ree has made one small addition of her own, however — the hot sauce!
Level: Easy
Total: 1 hr 55 min
Active: 25 min
Yield: 4 to 6 servings

Ingredients

  1. 1 pound 16/20-count cooked shrimp, thawed and chopped
  2. 2 cups lump crabmeat
  3. 2 cups mayonnaise
  4. 1 cup cooked lobster meat
  5. 1 cup diced celery
  6. 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  7. 1 tablespoon sherry
  8. 3 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  9. 1 teaspoon seafood seasoning, such as Old Bay
  10. 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  11. 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  12. 4 green onions, sliced thin
  13. 1 small green bell pepper, diced
  14. Hot sauce, to taste
  15. 2 cups potato chips, crushed
  16. 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  17. 5 tablespoons olive oil
  18. 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  19. 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives
  20. 1 tablespoon honey
  21. Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  22. 1 head butter lettuce, leaves separated
  23. Green baby mesclun, for serving

Instructions

  1. For the casserole: Mix the shrimp, crabmeat, mayonnaise, lobster meat, celery, mustard, sherry, Worcestershire, seafood seasoning, salt, pepper, green onions, bell pepper and hot sauce in a large bowl. Taste and adjust the seasonings. Transfer to a medium-sized baking dish. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or up to 24 hours.
  2. When ready, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  3. Top the casserole with the chips and bake until golden and heated through, about 30 minutes. Remove and let rest 5 to 7 minutes before serving.
  4. For the simple green salad: Meanwhile, to a mason jar, add the olive oil, lemon juice, chives, honey, salt and pepper. Place the lid on the jar and shake to combine. Drizzle over the salad leaves in a bowl and toss.
  5. Garnish the casserole with the chopped parsley and serve with the salad on the side.

I made this!I used imitation crab meat, shrimp, and off brand miracle whip.i didn’t care for the potato chips I’m sure bread crumbs would work but it came out delicious!!!I’m making again with canned crab meat and shrimp I couldn’t find lobster at my grocery store. But I’m sure it will be delicious!I’m thankful for this recipe it’s inexpensive to make and we needed something different.Oh serve with butter French bread or garlic bread!

After reading some of the reviews I had to use my Maryland seafood experience to assure a perfect outcome! One cup of mayo was plenty ( always use Hellman’s!) I also added one egg like we do in crab imperial. I Added a teaspoon of baking powder, lemon juice and a little panko bread crumbs to hold it together:) it did and it’s delicious! It was enough to make an extra mini casserole. I baked them both. Now I’m going to try and freeze the big one for my ladies brunch! Wish me luck:)

Hope it works it’s resting in fridge all prepared , will cook it up in few hours it is more liquidy than I thought it would be …maybe it firms up a bit in fridge? I am now a bit worried about oily mess that other reviewer talked about …maybe I will add prepared rice to the mix before oven, to help mop up the oil/ mess??

This recipe was fantastic-wish I could give it more than 5 stars! ! I made one slight change-I topped it with 1 cup crushed Ritz crackers mixed with 4 Tbs melted butter, rather than using the potato chips. Otherwise I followed the recipe exactly. I served it with rice and a salad. Sooooo good!
