At Lithuanian celebrations and social clubs in Baltimore, you can find this sweet, extremely strong cocktail. It is typically pronounced “VIT-a-tis.” Typically produced from recipes that have been passed down through the years by the offspring of Lithuanian immigrants, viryta is a sought-after treat during the festive season. The majority of the individuals who make it in Baltimore are very private about their family recipes, so it took me years to eventually find someone to show me how to make it. If she found out I placed it online, I’d probably get a rude awakening!

This was the perfect quick recipe, and easily made gluten free! I made both as written and with changes, and both were great. I used King Arthur measure for measure gluten free flour and added 1 tsp vanilla to cut the GF gritty flavor that can sometimes come through. I also added the eggs whole because I was too tired and lazy that morning. They were awesome 🙂 My daughter did mention that she would prefer them a little sweeter, but I thought they were perfect.
Instead of folding it over u can just mix it in and it will turn out fine
This is my go to “favorite” recipe for light crispy waffles
All I can say is AMAZING RECIPE
A complete winner!
This recipe is lacking flavor. It not even just sugar. I feel like I’m eating bread. I’m not sure what needs to be changed but I’ll try a different recipe next time.
Waffles ii by Razz_brry_jam. Best so far. Better than Classic, Wonderful & Mom’s best. Richer-tasting. ‘Tends to stick to waffle maker.
Really liked the texture but it needed more salt. Also if you like your waffles sweet you should add a bit of sugar.
super good!! didn’t have an electric beater so I only beat my egg whites until they were white and fluffy and it worked out just fine
This is wonderful,!! My fifteen year old ate all but one of the entire batch!
I added more water because it was a bit thick at first. I also added some chocolate chips because, why not? but they are DELICIOUS!!!
these were amazing! made them for breakfast and did not even have to use syrup, the edges were crispy and the inside was fluffy and just amazing! i was suprised on how you use no sugar at all! i was trying to find a recipe that did not use buttermilk, i was going to use box mix when i found this, perfect recipe!
This isn’t a good recipe. I had to half the amount of vegetable oil, quadruple the amount of sugar, and double the amount of vanilla extract to make it not taste like vegetable oil… I do not recommend this recipe at all.
turned out great and thick airy like proper belgiums should be.
Love this waffle recipe as is!
They were delicious. I think with a sweet fruit with them, it would be amazing
Really yummy waffles! Maybe just add a little vanilla
Yuck! Was fluffy and bland.
My stepdad taught me how to use a waffle maker to make waffles.
Fairly simple recipe to follow, be sure to use a hand mixer to whip up the egg whites. I also added 1 tsp vanilla and 1/2 tsp cinnamon. Perfectly Golden Waffles
I changed up the recipe a bit by adding some sugar, vanilla, subbed butter for the oil and making my own buttermilk(subbing the milk for it). It was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend, daughter and i chowed down.
