Valentine’s Day French Toast

The morning of Valentine’s Day, surprise your sweetheart. This delicious French toast recipe includes strawberries and bananas as toppings!

Ingredients

  1. 8 eggs
  2. 1 tablespoon milk, or to taste
  3. 3 dashes ground nutmeg, or to taste
  4. 2 dashes ground cinnamon, or to taste
  5. 4 slices bread
  6. 1 teaspoon butter, or to taste
  7. 1 banana, or more to taste, sliced
  8. 6 strawberries, or more to taste, sliced
  9. 2 tablespoons maple syrup, or to taste, warmed
  10. ½ teaspoon confectioners’ sugar, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Beat eggs, milk, nutmeg, and cinnamon together with a fork in a bowl until somewhat smooth.
  2. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat.
  3. Dip a bread slice into egg mixture to evenly and generously coat each side and put into the hot skillet; cook until golden brown, 2 to 3 minutes per side. Repeat with each bread slice.
  4. Cut each slice in half on a diagonal and arrange onto 2 plates. Arrange banana and strawberry slices on the plates around the French toast. Drizzle maple syrup over the French toast; dust with confectioners’ sugar.

I used 2 eggs and a little more milk than indicated, and this turned out fine. This was good, but this recipe is pretty much the way I’ve made french toast all of my life.
