On the stovetop, make a tasty, quick, and simple granola with almonds and dried cranberries. Add your preferred nuts and dried fruits as well.

Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 15 mins
Total Time: 20 mins
Servings: 4
Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  1. 1 tablespoon olive oil
  2. 2 cups rolled oats
  3. ⅓ cup butter
  4. 2 tablespoons honey
  5. ⅓ cup packed brown sugar
  6. ½ cup chopped almonds
  7. ⅓ cup dried cranberries

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add oats then cook and stir until starting to brown and crisp, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and spread out on a cookie sheet to cool.
  2. Melt the butter in the same pan over medium heat. Stir in the honey and brown sugar; cook, stirring constantly, until bubbly. Return the oats to the pan. Cook and stir for another 5 minutes or so. Pour out onto the cookie sheet and spread to cool.
  3. Once cool, transfer to an airtight container and stir in the almonds and dried cranberries. Any additional nuts and fruit can be stirred in at this time also.

Excellent! Made a few substitutions because I didn’t have all the ingredients but the base worked amazingly! Used prunes and coconut instead of cranberries and almonds. Also used white sugar with a TBS of molasses because I was out of brown sugar. But it still turned out very well! Thanks for the flexible and yummy recipe! I’ll have to try it as written another time.

I love this recipe! I make it all the time. I especially like that its stovetop and I don’t have to turn on the oven and heat up the house. I do usually add more oats and use coconut oil instead of olive oil. I add whatever dried fruits and nuts I have a taste for at the time.

Loved this recipe! Super easy and I achieved my desired results of most deliciousness I did however add an extra measure of oats, butter, brown sugar and honey because I know me and I added all of my extras in the pan at the end before transferring to a container this will last me till the evening Thanks so much☀️

I loved finding a recipe for stove top! I was also happy to see that it didn’t call for much honey or brown sugar. I did do some of my own add-ins, but followed recipe otherwise. I don’t eat granola as a cereal alone – I just add a little to my bowl of Raisin Bran, oatmeal, etc. I may follow suggestions to add more dry oats next time, but enjoyed the sample bites! Thank you for the recipe!!

I’ve been looking for an easy granola recipe to add my favorite ingredients. this is my 4th batch. the first three i made exactly as written abs recommend. Twice I put in the oven but will not do so again. Too Crunchy. This last time I reduced the brown sugar to 1/4 cup. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

This was really good but I think would be as good w even less butter; i will try that next time and update review. I also used 1/4 brown sugar instead of 1/3. I used sliced almonds and left out craisins.

So delicious and easy! I can’t believe it took quarantine for me to finally make granola! I prefer this method to oven-baked recipes, which tend to result in a harder crunch. This had a light crispiness, with a perfectly caramelized coating. I modified a bit, adding cinnamon to the oats as they toasted in Step 1, a dash of vanilla while the butter and honey simmered, and some flax seed at the end. A huge hit with the family!

This a wonderful recipe. Easy and fast to make. The only modification I made was to add the nuts and dry fruit to the skillet with the oats and butter mix three minutes before turning off the stove. It’s great to eat by itself while sipping coffee or tea or on yogurt.

I make this recipe often and just LOVE it!

This turned out great! I added sunflower kernals and flax seeds to imitate a certain health foods store, and it’s pretty close. I made it two weeks ago and I can’t stop eating it. This recipe is sweet and crunchy enough to stop my cravings. I do wish I had a way to make it form into clumps though. I eat it by hand, instead of using it as a topping.

Pretty good granola!

This was more candied granola and I burnt it a little so it didn’t taste that great anyways. Other than that it was ok

Tastes great, I’d give it 5 stars of it were healthier.

So easy. I made a triple batch for a Scout outing. I served cranberries and almonds on the side because of some allergies. It was gone quickly. Next time I might add vanilla.

i made it 3 times already. a really good, easy recipe. thank you! for less sugar I deviated slightly everytime and it turned out good. I used 2 tbsp honey with 2 tbsp brown sugar for two cups of oats. second time I used 1/3 cup + 2tbsp butter +1/3 cup canola oil + 1 cup honey with no sugar for 5 cups of oats. turned out great. I also added cardamom to the oil before roasting the oats to give it some aroma. thank you for the recipe

really good, we needed to add a bit more olive oil though and we needed to cook it more on medium heat ^-^

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I blended them all together and came out with a 4 star batch of granola. The next batch I make will be better. My biggest problem was toasting the oats. A few burned and it is noticeable to me. Five minutes on medium-high temps with my cheap pan was too much. I used cashews for my nut and craisins, dried apple and dried peach. Vanilla and cinnamon are two of my favorites so they also went into the mix.

I used apple juice concentrate instead of the sugar. I used coconut oil.

For my purposes, this granola was perfect! I substituted a plain (no cranberries or other additions) version for a graham cracker crust in a brunch lemon mousse. Delicious! It was quick and easy in my cast iron skillet. It would probably be too sweet for a breakfast cereal, but was just right for a topping, or in this case, “bottoming,” a dessert.

This is an awesome easy recipe. The only thing I would change would be to add nuts and dried cranberries before granola cools too much. I waited too long and the nuts and cranberries separated from the granola. I will also add sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds to increase protein.
