Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup steel-cut oats
- 1 medium apple – peeled, cored, and chopped
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 ½ tablespoons butter, cut into 6 pieces (Optional)
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Combine water, milk, oats, apple, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, and salt in a slow cooker; mix well.
- Cook on Low for 1 hour. Reduce heat to Simmer or Warm and cook for 7 to 8 more hours.
- You can substitute maple syrup or other desired sweetener for brown sugar.

I made no changes to the recipe so it came out as expected. My only problem was that I actually think this recipe is for 6 servings. So next time I’ll make a little less.

I left out the butter and used pure protein drink and water combo to equal the amount of fluid. It is amazing!
