Ingredients
- ½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- ½ cup Greek yogurt
- ½ cup sweetened almond milk
- 1 banana, sliced
Instructions
- Stir oats, yogurt, and almond milk together in a jar with a lid. Twist lid onto jar and refrigerate, 8 hours to overnight. Stir oatmeal and add banana when ready to eat.
- You can mix ingredients in any container that has a lid or that can be covered with plastic wrap.

Simple to make and easy to remember. For me, this makes 2 portions, but I also added extra fruit: berries, kiwi, pineapple–it’s really flexible. Also I like a small spoon of chia seeds mixed in. Any yogurt works too–personally I prefer it with something less thick than greek style yogurt.
First time trying overnight oatmeal, it was already past my bedtime when I made it so the ease of this recipe was fantastic! A cup of yogurt is more like 3/4 cup so instead of wasting the rest I just upped the oats and (unsweetened oat) milk to match. I used vanilla cinnamon yogurt, added a bit more cinnamon and a squirt of agave. It tasted good cold out of the fridge this morning but after adding some dried berries and a minute in the microwave, it was scrummy!
Great recipe. The recipe doesn’t specify what flavour of Greek yogurt, but I use non-fat vanilla. Plain is too bland. It’s great with banana and fresh berries. It’s very filling, so I would say this actually makes 2 servings. I’ve subsequently tried to make this with regular vanilla yogurt, but found it too runny…I definitely think it tastes better with Greek yogurt.
this is a good starting point. bf likes his oatmeal thicker so i used 6 tbsp of greek yogurt and 3 tbsp of almond milk. i also add 1.5 tsp of chia seeds, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and some sweetner. no need to precook the oatmela. left out the banana. ty for the recipe
Love it! I made it with vanilla flavored Greek yogurt and Vanilla flavored Almond Breeze milk and topped with 2 fresh strawberries and half a banana. Yummy!
delicious and so easy to change up the flavors! We’ve used vanilla yogurt, vanilla almond milk, flax seed, chia seeds, and all sorts of fruits and chopped nuts. Keeps it from getting boring when you can so easily change the flavors. Great recipe base!

I used plain oat milk (to cut back on sugar), added half a banana and about a tablespoon of chopped pecans along with generous dashes of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Incredibly flavorful and so much healthier; didn’t miss the sweeteners that most instant oatmeal brands have. I reviewed this after the first time eating it for breakfast. I thought it was too thick, and I had to add more milk when I went to eat it. However, I ate this for dinner tonight, and I liked how thick it was. I guess I just wasn’t in the mood for it the first day. I made a double batch and had enough for 4 servings. I added cinnamon and dried cranberries when I made it, and then added pecans and some cinnamon and sugar on top when I ate it. I definitely liked having the crunch of nuts, because it is kind of gooey when not cooked.
I have been making this overnight oats recipe for years, and it is still a favorite of both me and my hubby. I always use unsweetened almond milk; and add maple syrup to taste for sweetness. There are numerous ways to customize this as well–you can add different fruits (dried or fresh), nuts/seeds, various spices, nut or seed butter; the possibilities are endless! I also really appreciate that this recipe uses a combination of yogurt and milk, as I often find overnight oats that use just milk to be too watery tasting. Thank you so much for this recipe–I will be making it for many more years to come!

Taste was great for me, but officially my son still doesn’t like Greek yogurt. So I tweaked it up, and now, I use this recipe all the time as a baseline with vanilla yogurt instead of Greek. This is an amazingly versatile recipe to any taste (even used it to add 1tsb grape jelly and 1tsb peanut butter for some weekend fun breakfast). Thank you!

Made no changes to the preparation. Added bananas, a hanful of slivered almonds and 2 Tbsp applesauce inthe morning. Delic! Thanks for this easy breakfast.
Autumn Twist: I tend to get into “jags” with my eating, and this one is my latest. In the spirit of the season I stirred in pumpkin puree along with cinnamon and nutmeg. just before eating I topped with a touch of honey and walnuts. SO Good! Not to mention MUCH less expensive than buying the name brand “seasonal” individual cups!
I really enjoyed this. I have always wanted to try a recipe like this and I’m glad I picked this one. It was so easy to make. I used regular strawberry yogurt and regular milk. When it was ready to eat I added the sliced bananas, honey and a dash of nutmeg, so good. I can’t wait to try different yogurts, fruits and spices. Thanks for this great recipe.
Wasn’t sure about “cold oatmeal” at first but intrigued by the nutrition. Now it has grown on me after a few mornings. I used Kefir in place of Greek yogurt and skim milk for sweetened almond milk. I also added 1 Tbsp chia seeds. Thanks for sharing.
Some people are saying to cook the oatmeal first… that defeats the purpose of this easy make-ahead breakfast! If you use the right oats, you don’t have to cook ahead. Add apple sauce and cinnamon, cocoa and bananas, brown sugar, or peanut butter to the jar for some variations. My kiddos always love this!
This tasted slimy and uncooked to me. Another way to accomplish the same goal is (the night before) bring water to a boil, stir in oatmeal, turn down heat to a simmer and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Turn off heat and let sit overnight and your oatmeal is done in the morning. Add milk, yogurt and fruit and voila!
