I made one bowl as instructed and a modified bowl and prefer my modifications. The one as instructed had absorbed more water, so it was more mushy similar to mashed potatoes, and I like it less mushy. I feel like if it was boiled off while stirring, it could look like the recipe’s picture, but mine wasn’t cooperating. I loved: 3/4c oats 3/4c water, boiled from kettle pinch of kosher salt Combine above in a bowl, stirring frequently until most of the water has been absorbed, about 1 minute. 2tps real Canadian maple syrup 1 unpacked tsp brown sugar Mix and enjoy!

This recipe was great for me and my dad’s breakfast! Although I believe it is better to use a little but less water, maybe about a quarter cup less per serving.

Did a little adjustment.. 1 1/3 cup of Milk 1/2 cup of water 4tsp of Brown Sugar 1tsp of White Suger 1tsp Maple Splash or almond extract Splash of vanilla extract 5 pinches of salt (I thinks.. I kept pinching and tasting till it was balanced) Boiled till done and simmered to consistency. Then volia!! Delicious. The maple syrup gave it the taste I was looking for. Thanks

So I saw the recipe and it’s simple and to the point. I didn’t have quick oats (not a fan, doesn’t allow for more elaborte recipes), so I used old fashion Great Value (walmart brand). Still worked out great just have to adjust the time to the instructions on the box. The reviews seem to state it could use a bit more and that’s probably true considering it’s a very simple easy quick fix breakfast meal. So what I did was, after the water bubbled, then the water and oats bubbled, added about a teaspoon to a tablespoon of milk, a half tablespoon (stick variety) of butter per serving while the oatmeal boiled and stirred it in. After finishing the the oatmeal then I added the sweeteners. smoother but not overdone, the flavors of the maple brown sugar and honey blended well together without being overtly sweet; very satisfying.

This really satisfied my craving for the “packet” stuff! This is so much better! Can’t wait to have it again! I added a pinch of salt and a tiny splash of vanilla. Definitely a new favorite! Thank you!!!!

I loved this recipe. I substitute the maple sugar with ground cinnamon and one cinnamon stick instead.

I’ve commented before, but forgot to add this. I’d reduce the water amount. The recipe was too runny and the extra liquid did not provide a satisfying experience to me.

I need to play with it a bit more. Made with a little less water and maybe a bit more brown sugar and maple syrup, not much but a bit more. Note: This recipe doesn’t taste exactly like the Quaker Oats Maple Brown Sugar packets. So with that thought out of the mind. This is good too. The texture and appearance of the minute made quick oats kinda throws me off because it’s a different texture but it’s not a bad texture either

I made this as written and it was ok. After I added a little more maple syrup and brown sugar it was better but something was still missing. I added a few dashes of salt and it was much better.

I loved this one. as a fourteen-year-old, it was easy and simple. As my own twist, I added cranberries (my favorite). It went well with my tea. Thank you for the recipe!

Thank you! It’s delish! And since you asked for suggestions I noticed the packaged version includes salt so I would add a pinch of salt since salt always makes any desert taste better

I don’t know why everyone in the reviews is giving this such high ratings. The packet version tastes much better and if you want to get the same taste you would have to add a lot more sugar. However, then it would just be unhealthy. Just stick with the packet if you like true maple brown sugar oatmeal.

This is by far the best recipe that I have made. Props to the owner.

I really liked this recipe! I added a pinch of salt and a little bit more maple syrup and brown sugar to get a good balance of sweet and salty. Also to mix it up I added just a half teaspoon or so of allspice. It reminded me of Christmas and tasted great!

Thank you! Oatmeal sounded good this morning but I didn’t have any packets. This tastes like the package and I was able to use the oats I normally only use in baking.

Upon looking for a way to save money and give my kids a somewhat healthier alternative to the pre-packaged oatmeal, Google led us to this recipe. I’m glad we gave it a try! I was a little skeptical about preparing it with water (since my kids like milk with the packets) but it came out great… and since I have one kid with nut allergies and one kid with egg and dairy allergies, it’s nice to add a splash of their appropriate milks after it’s done. Another great thing is that it can be dressed up as you like… I make one huge pot of it and the kids can add fruit or nuts (or not) as they please. Great quick and simple recipe! We enjoyed it for sure!
