Maple and Brown Sugar Instant Pot® Oatmeal

  5.0 – 1 reviews  • Oatmeal Recipes

One of my favorite things to prepare in the Instant Pot® is oatmeal because it’s simple, hands-free, and adaptable in a variety of ways. This oatmeal recipe for the Instant Pot uses a pot-in-pot pressure cooker. Oatmeal made with this recipe will have a hard texture, as our family prefers it. Increase the pressure cook time by 1 minute for oatmeal that is softer and mushier.

Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 15 mins
Additional Time: 15 mins
Total Time: 35 mins
Servings: 2
Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients

  1. 2 cups water, divided
  2. 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  3. ¾ cup milk
  4. 2 tablespoons packed dark brown sugar
  5. 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  6. ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  7. 1 pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Pour 1 cup water in a multi-functional pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot®) and place a steamer rack trivet in the bottom.
  2. Stir together remaining 1 cup water, oats, milk, brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, and salt in a heat-safe bowl. Place the bowl on the trivet.
  3. Close and lock the lid. Select high pressure according to manufacturer’s instructions; set timer for 6 minutes. Allow 7 to 10 minutes for pressure to build.
  4. Release pressure using the natural-release method according to manufacturer’s instructions, for 10 minutes. Release remaining pressure carefully using the quick-release method, about 5 minutes. Unlock and remove the lid.
  5. Remove the bowl from the pressure cooker and stir. The oatmeal will thicken as it cools.

Best way to make regular oatmeal ever! If you have an Instant Pot or any other similar multicooker and you like oatmeal, don’t hesitate to make it this way! No watching it for boil overs, set it and go about your morning. If you don’t like the maple/brown sugar idea, you can sub for other flavors or just cook the oats plain and doctor them up after they’re in your bowl. Store leftovers in the fridge, carefully reheat with extra milk or cream.
