Homemade Oat Milk

This flavor-infused oat milk can be made by adding chocolate powder or freeze-dried fruit (powder)!

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup water, or to taste
  2. ¼ cup rolled oats
  3. 1 tablespoon maple syrup (Optional)
  4. 1 splash vanilla extract
  5. 1 pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Put water, oats, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt into a blender. Blend until combined, about 1 minute. If you blend it for too long, it will become slimy.
  2. Pour mixture over a thin towel, or very fine strainer, into a bowl. Strain again for the smoothest result. Pour oat milk into a container or cup and refrigerate until cold, about 30 minutes.
  3. You can use honey instead of maple syrup.
  4. You can add less water for a thicker milk.
  5. For flavored milk, you could add 1/2 tablespoon of cocoa powder (for chocolate oat milk), or a few pieces of freeze-dried strawberries (for strawberry oat milk).

This is a perfect recipe when you need a small amount of non-dairy milk, fast. I added it to my coffee. I left out the salt. I would suggest adding the maple syrup after you strain the oats. I will also reduce the water to 3/4 cup to keep it slightly denser. However, as is, it is a nice drink. It was pretty sweet. I dumped the pulp into my pancake batter to not waste it. Thank you for the recipe.
