Ham Breakfast Braid

Sweet potatoes with a spicy bite. To increase the spiciness or sweetness, add more chipotles or brown sugar.

Prep Time: 30 mins
Cook Time: 30 mins
Total Time: 1 hr
Servings: 6

Ingredients

  1. ½ cup milk
  2. 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  3. 8 eggs
  4. salt and pepper to taste
  5. 2 (8 ounce) packages refrigerated crescent roll dough
  6. 4 ounces cooked ham, thinly sliced
  7. 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Beat milk and cream cheese together until smooth. Mix in eggs, and season with salt and pepper. Heat a lightly oiled skillet over medium-high heat and cook egg mixture until eggs are almost set.
  3. Arrange crescent rolls from one package into a rectangle shape on top of a lightly greased cookie sheet. Place rolls from remaining package along the edges of the two long sides of the rectangle, with the broad half of rolls on top of the first layer of rolls, and the pointed ends extending over the sides of the pan.
  4. Arrange ham in a layer down the center of dough. Spoon cooked egg mixture on top of ham and then sprinkle Cheddar cheese on top of eggs. Bring the corners of the rolls together over cheese to form a “braid” shape.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, until cheese is melted and rolls are golden brown.

Loved it but next time I will add bacon or sausage with. Needs more than just one kinda of meat, besides the eggs

I made it vegetarian for my daughter. So I just added mushrooms, green onions, white onions, tomato, bell pepper, and cheese. Then I made some bacon on the side! It was very good and easy to make!

My family loves this! Even my picky teenage who doesn’t like eggs!

Fantastic! I used honey butter crescent rolls. Great for Christmas morning.

Was really good.

Perfect recipes! I like that the meat is interchangeable depending on your tastes at the moment. Definitely a keeper!

It was perfect the way it is.

So easy and delicious!

Easy! Directions are great. My only adjustment was dicing the ham and adding to eggs as the cooked. And I used lowfat crescents. Turned out perfectly, and all positive praises! Could easily be made vegetarian I think too.

Christmas morning hit and so easy to make. Next time I’ll use bacon and add this as a Sunday morning breakfast.

I made this when my son and his family came for Halloween. They are big egg eaters so thought I would give them something new. It was a huge hit with everyone, even my 2 and 3 year old grandchildren! We ate the leftovers the next morning. It was worth putting it back into the oven at 300 degrees for about 10 to 15 minutes to crisp the top. Delicious again! I did not change anything on the recipe. Will make this again.

Absolutely delicious. I cut the recipe in half as breakfast for two and it still worked beautifully. I also added a few green onions and finished it off with an egg wash before baking. It’s almost embarrassing how easy this is, for how wonderful it turns out! Will definitely be making this again.

This is a delicious, easy and fast meal that looks elegant enough for company. It has become one of my family’s favorites for brunch or “breakfast for dinner”.

The only change is one that is in the allrecipes magazine and in that one they added a Tble mustard under the ham before braiding and baking. Huge amount of food. This recipe (in the magazine) is for 2 loafs so unless you’re planning on feeding an army, you’ll need to half everything. It was a hit though and I will definitely be making this again.

We love it!! weeks in a row!!

This was delicious! And reheated very well too, I can’t wait to make it again.

Very tasty, but certainly time consuming. I’m not sure it was that much better than just scrambling some eggs and adding ham and cheese. Make some crescent rolls on the side. Next time, I will layer the ham, egg and cheese. Maybe use chive cream cheese with the eggs instead of plain. Note: many people are using the crescent roll dough instead of the crescent sheets. Two different products. That is why the directions are confusing. to some people.

I made this for my church breakfast. Everyone loved it. I brought home an empty pan. Now my husband and kids wants me to make it at home. So that what I’m doing now.

This is a great breakfast meal! It doesn’t stay very well though. The bread gets very soggy after awhile.

Will try this with sausage the next time

I made this today for Christmas Brunch with leftover ham from last night’s feast. I don’t like store bought crescent rolls, so I opted to make my own dough. I made the Rapid Mix Sweet Dough found here on Alrecipes yesterday and used half of the dough for this. So, so, so good!!! I also did an extra layer of ham, eggs, and cheese to compensate for any extra doughiness. I baked it for 25 minutes and it came out perfect! I would recommend doing an egg-wash on the top once it’s all ready for the oven, to bring out that nice golden brown.
