Haitian French Toast

A delicious and indulgent French toast that’s ideal for a celebratory breakfast. This was the first thing I served for New Year’s Day brunch, along with a mixed grill of meats and a fine bottle of champagne.

This recipe is perfection and my boyfriend said the best French toast he’s had! I didn’t change a thing!

I prepared this the evening prior and baked it in a casserole dish. The family loved it. Just the right amount of OJ.

Ok, so I messed it up trying to use brioche bread & not drying it first. So the flavor was AMAZING, BUT the bread was soggy DRY THE BREAD, that way you get the awesome flavor & still get fluffy bread.

Amazing recipe! I substituted the bread with Challah bread. It was my first time making it and I had my teen son assist! The family loved it!

Tasted wonderful! I used almond milk and egg beaters to cook coconut oil. My husband didn’t need syrup! No too sweet!

Excellent! Used Trader Joe’s french bread, made it for bunch of tween boys & it was so good that the whole thing was gone in 5 minutes.

The taste is fabulous! My problem is that my bread was still so wet, in the middle. I placed it in the oven for over 20 minutes, after cooking on the griddle, still too wet, for my liking. I will keep trying, but will cut smaller than 1 1/2” and/or more baking time. Wonderful taste, though! Definitely worth trying again!

I made & fixed half of this per the recipe. It doesn’t need the sugar. In the next batch I included some orange peel, a dash of vanilla & omitted the sugar. We preferred the second batch. Both batches had very soggy centers. I recommend slicing the bread thinner. I also cooked a portion of each batch in butter & others in butter infused olive oil. The olive oil cooked up prettier & there was no real difference in the taste. We liked the flavor of this recipe. The next time I’m going to try it by breaking up the bread & baking it as some other reviewers suggested. Thank you for a new family favorite.

Good flavor, just a hint of orange. I made the mistake of using regular thick cut bread instead of crusty baguettes, so mine turned out to be a sloppy disaster that wouldn’t cook. Don’t make my mistake. Use crusty bread or you’ll end up with inedible mush. I can’t wait to make it right though!

Love this recipe! It is my go to for a “fancier” breakfast. I usually buy more of the heavy cream than needed so I can make fresh whipped cream, then I pair it with maple syrup and sliced peaches! Yum! My family will not stop asking about it!

Other than cutting the recipe in half, I followed it to the letter. And let me tell you, I will never touch another slice of plain old French Toast again! This was amazing!!!! I’m already trying to think of ways to adapt it into a fun shareable treat.

This was a wonderful Easter french toast. The only change I made was using half and half as I didn’t have heavy cream. You can really taste the orange notes.

Used Pugaliese bread, which due to it’s porous texture, enabled the egg to penetrate the bread thoroughly.

I was cooking for 2, so I halved the recipe. I had no heavy cream, so I substituted canned evaporated milk. I used cinnamon swirl bread, and it was great!
