Bulletproof Hot Chocolate

  3.7 – 3 reviews

For those who follow the Bulletproof diet, the ketogenic diet, or any other high-fat, low-carb diet, this is an alternative to Bulletproof coffee.

Prep Time: 5 mins
Total Time: 5 mins
Servings: 1

Ingredients

  1. 11 fluid ounces hot water
  2. 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  3. 1 tablespoon medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil
  4. 1 tablespoon cacao powder
  5. 1 tablespoon cacao butter
  6. ⅛ teaspoon vanilla powder
  7. 6 drops liquid stevia, or to taste
  8. 1 pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Combine hot water, butter, MCT oil, cacao powder, cacao butter, vanilla powder, liquid stevia, and salt in a blender; blend until smooth.
  2. You can add 1 tablespoon hydrolyzed collagen protein powder and vitamin/supplement powders to the hot chocolate if desired.
  3. I use grass-fed butter. Ghee can also be used in place of the butter if desired.

I liked this well enough. It doesn’t have body like a milk based hot chocolate, but it is tasty. I added an extra tbsp of cocoa. Thank you for the recipe.

Not bad. I think next time I’ll use a vanilla protein powder like Syntha-6’s Vanilla Ice Cream (the best kind I’ve found). Without something like that, this is too watery and oily. I think the vanilla protein powder will act as a good emulsifier to make it creamier, like real cocoa.

I enjoyed this. It’s especially good for those who don’t want dairy or almond milk. Cacao powder never seems as strong as cocoa powder, but the butter and MCT oil help to make it a little richer.
