Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Strata

Not your typical cranberry salad, this Jell-O-style salad features layers of cream cheese and whipped cream. In addition to cranberries, apples, pineapples, and orange juice give it a fruity flavor.

Way too much bread. Wish I had seen that comment before making. Also, definitely needs more bacon. Some flavour layers are needed – heat would be a great addition. Pretty mediocre honestly.

I made it three different times but could never get it to come out the way I wanted it. Will keep trying however…

It was easy to make, it was absolutely delicious and me and my kids had it for our Christmas brunch. I did NOT change or add anything to this recipe

Too much bread… needs more bacon too

My family loved it! I was so happy b/c my son in-law asked to take some leftovers home.

We made this for Easter Sunday breakfast. Loved that it could be prepped the night before. After reading the reviews I did make substitutions and all my guests loved it including my one year old. I used some crusty sourdough bread I had which I let sit out all day to get a bit stale. I used an entire pound of bacon, 1 tsp of black pepper, 1 tsp ground mustard, and 1 top garlic powder. I also omitted the mushrooms. Very yummy and made the whole house smell great. One hour was the perfect amount of time for it to bake too. Will make again.

Very good with a few extras. Added some chopped red onion, green pepper, two teas. salt, extra Dijon, and used mostly pepper jack cheese w a little cheddar tho give it a little kick.

Just average. Nothing really set it apart, I even added extra bacon.

This tasted very good and everyone liked it , of course it was good, it’s loaded with cream. However, I followed the recipes for 12 people and it made enough to feed a small army. Be careful, when sizing. It called for 24 eggs and an entire loaf of bread – it should have been a tip off for me.

as is it was bland. I added more bacon (who doesn’t want more bacon) but that couldn’t save the dish.

Love this recipe the way it is! It’s fantastic. We did, however, after time modify it to our liking by adding green pepper and a pinch of nutmeg in egg mixture. We also used jalapeño cheese for a bit of a kick.

Made ‘‘tis dish for thanksgiving . One icee was left. Everybody loved it . The changes were I used thick bacon, used green peppers and onion instead of mushrooms and milk no cream
Kimberly Miller
Very disappointed. Might be great for some people, but not for me.

made this Christmas morning, sans mushrooms. Everyone loved it, but next time I’d use 50%-100% more bacon. I used most of a loaf of French bread (18 slices ~1″ thick).

I don’t refrigerate this overnight. As long as your bread cubes suck up the egg mixture before baking it will come out well. A strata is essentially a savory bread pudding sans sugar. I use 4 slices of thick cut cooked bacon and also add about 1T dried onion flakes (or 1/4th C fresh minced). This also tastes great using pork sausage and having sausage gravy on the side.

Turned out great! I made this recipe in a muffin tin so we could have individual portions. Worked out great.

Absolutely the yummiest breakfast! I think next time I’ll add some spinach as

We had never tried a strata before…glad we tried this. We enjoyed the texture and flavor.

Mine turned out to be too much bread. Maybe I’ll try it again with half the called for bread.
