Easy to make and perfect for a hot summer evening is this grilled teriyaki chicken. On a green salad or in a sandwich, leftovers taste great. Grill quickly and over extremely high heat.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 55 mins
Additional Time: 2 hrs 10 mins
Total Time: 3 hrs 15 mins
Servings: 8
Yield: 1 1-pound loaf

Ingredients

  1. 1 cup warm water (105 to115 degrees F/40 to 45 degrees C)

  3. 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  4. 2 cups all-purpose flour
  5. 4 teaspoons olive oil
  6. ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Pour warm water into the pan of a bread machine and stir in honey until dissolved. Add yeast; let stand until foamy, about 10 minutes.

  3. Run Soft cycle if available; otherwise, select Regular cycle. Remove loaf from the machine after the cycle is done, about 55 minutes. Allow baked loaf to cool before slicing.
  4. The bread will slice better if you allow it to cool.

So far my favourite bread maker recipe I have found! The outside has a nice crust while the inside is soft and gooey. I used bread flour and it worked out great.

I made this as written then using only 3/4C water based on other’s reviews. While the taste and texture is great, my loaves keep coming out SUPER short…like 1/2 the size the loaf should be. So it’s not really useable for sandwiches, which was my reason for making it. I’m no bread scientist so I’m unclear if the yeast amount needs to be upped but clearly the ingredient quantities are off as others have noted. I wish I could tell you HOW 2 fix it but since I can’t – I can just warn: be prepared 4 a likely small loaf! I will also say while its not as dense as all others I’ve made in the bread maker, it’s not as airy as I was hoping. Perhaps that has 2 do with the fact they’re still so short vs full sized and more compact? If u want just a dinner loaf 2 go with food, it would work great. But this repeatedly has been a bust for me…back 2 the drawing board. I hope this review helps u.

This is a very good recipe for light bread. I used bread flour instead of all purpose to give it more chewy moistness. Used Soft setting on bread machine.

I am a radio engineer and electronic enthusiast but after recent life-changing events I have taken up a new hobby – baking. Naturally bread is one of the targets. I have mastered several doughs, made sweet and savoury pies and pastry, including choux pastry. I even made my own English Christmas fruit cake with brandy. Now I am working on bread. I have made several house-bricks. I have tried various recipes, but always with the same result. I just bought myself a bread baking machine (OBH Nordica Inux – “best in tests” here in Sweden) and made yet another house-brick at my first attempt. I tried your recipe and finally I have got the EXACT result I wanted. The bread is fluffy, small holes in it, and does not crumble. I got out of bed at 2AM this morning because I could not resist more of it. My big mistake is that I have been using “ICA Basic” (cheap) flour and I now realise that stuff it is more like cement. There is a HUGE difference between different flours. I even tried “Dinkle flour” (makes a much heavier house-brick). I tried your recipe. For your recipe I used “Kungsörnen Vetemjöl Special” bread flour. Costs twice the price, but this time no house-brick. It is soft, fluffy, light, moist and elastic. Your recipe is a little “loose” with my choice of flour so I had to increase the amount of flour to three cups, instead of two. I used sugar instead of honey with 12g of fresh yeast, instead of packet yeast. The yeast took 15 minutes to activate, but the result is fantastic. Thank you so much. I found that the bread is so light and fluffy that has a tendency to sink (like a soufflé on a building site) but this I believe is because it rises to almost 400% of the original size when it proves. Reduced to 2/3 cup of water, and only 2 cups of flour. Now it is not so high in the bread maker so it does not collapse under it’s own weight. Bread making machines produce a tall loaf, which is not so good for this light bread. I have been reading loads of reviews for your recipe and I believe that many of the problems are due to the type of flour chosen. The type of flour is really important. The water/flour ratio is also important and varies with different types of flour. Last night, with the minor changes to your recipe, I found bread perfection. Thank you so very much. Now I can get on with some serious bread baking. Very best regards from Harry, Sweden.

This is my Go To recipe because it is so good, so simple and so delicious. I highly recommend this recipe.

Liquid content doesn’t match the dry. I had to add around another 1/2 cup of flour once the knead cycle started. It looked very thin (between batter and dough). Either the recipe needs adjusted for less water (maybe 3/4C instead of 1C) or needs to add more flour (which will no longer be a 1LB load. Mine turned out about 1.5LB due to adding flour to get the dough consistency right. Once it was done it WAS very airy and light. Great tasting and great recipe, just needs fine tuned for repeatability.

The first time I made this it didn’t turn out. I made in my bread machine on basic setting as I do not have a soft setting. The second time I made it I used the Express 1.5 setting and it turned out perfect. I followed the directions and did not change anything.

The bread came out just as the recipe described. It was the best bread I have ever made in my bread maker. I did increase the flour by 1/4 cup because I live in a high altitude.

Pros: My husband liked the taste of it It had air pockets in it Cons: It did not rise much It was kind of yeasty and heavy I wish I kew how to adapt the recipe so the bread would rise more

Finally, soft airy bread! Followed the recipe exactly. I made the bread last night, let to cool and after cooled wrapped in Saran Wrap for the night. This morning I cut it into thin slices (cutting down on carbs!). It is perfect! Ps the dogs are lined up for the end parts!

Will rise then fall on all 3times we did it

I have made this bread several times. It is the softest and fluffiest bread I have ever made! I used a little over 3 cups of bread flour and used the soft bread setting on my bread maker for 1 1/2 pound loaf. Perfect every time!!

This bread totally flopped. There are bubbles, but it’s not very fluffy or light. The crust was very hard.

This was only the second time I’ve used my bread machine. This recipe was sooooo good!! My family ate it up right away!!

I haven’t had much luck making bread so far, but this was so easy and turned out great! I used 1 1/2 bread flour and 1/2 whole wheat to make it a little healthier.

Omg. We were about to throw out our bread machine. This is so good and like buying bread from the store. Our new go to for our bread machine. Thank you!!

We really enjoyed this soft bread. I will probably do like others suggested and add a little more salt. Has anyone doubled this as it is a rather small loaf?

This turned out great for me, although after reading many reviews, I made some modifications (like others did). I used a Cosway bread machine: Increased recipe to 12 servings. Used 2 cups of bread flour and 1 cup of AP flour … all heaped. Used 1/2 olive oil and 1/2 veg oil (I was concerned about the taste as others had noted … not sure 1/2 + 1/2 was necessary). #1/soft setting Light crust 1000g Lovely bread!

Thank you so much! I hated my bread machine until now! Not a fan of dense bread! This was so easy and so delicious!! I used dark brown crust setting and quick setting on my machine.

Love it! I had to add about a quarter cup of flour and remove a teaspoon of active dry yeast from a yeast packet in order to make it work out, but it did! This is my all-time go-to bread machine recipe!

Awesome recipe. A big thank you! This was the second bread I baked in the machine. Used sugar instead of honey. Used 1.5 cup all purpose flour and .5 cup whole wheat flour as I ran out. Sifted the flour, greased the pan sides just before bake cycle. I took it out of the pan at the end of bake. The first one I did not and there was moisture when I let it cool in the pan. Awesome texture and taste, wow!
