Ingredients

  1. 3 cups all-purpose flour
  2. 1 ½ tablespoons baking powder
  3. 1 ¼ teaspoons garlic powder, divided
  4. ½ teaspoon salt
  5. ¼ teaspoon ground white pepper
  6. ¼ cup shortening
  7. 1 cup milk
  8. ½ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  9. 12 slices pepperoni, diced
  10. ¼ cup melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder, salt, and white pepper together in a bowl.
  3. Cut shortening into flour mixture with a knife or pastry blender until the mixture is slightly lumpy. Stir milk, Cheddar cheese, and pepperoni into flour mixture until well blended. Drop 2-inch balls onto the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until golden, 12 to 15 minutes.
  5. Stir butter and remaining 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder together in a small bowl; brush onto biscuits.
  6. Substitute 1/2 cup browned sausage instead of pepperoni if you like.

These were okay but seemed bland. I don’t think there’s enough cheese or pepperoni in them. I accidentally used all the garlic powder inside the biscuits but that didn’t even help boost the flavor. I think these would be great with a few minor tweaks.
