Nearly identical to the bread served at Macaroni Grill® is this herb bread. Warm or toasted bread works best with this. For breakfast, we toast it and cover it with cream cheese rather than butter. We also serve it with soups.

I had no Rosemary so I just used Italian seasoning instead of three different herbs and it still turned out good. Will definitely make this again
I did the 3 cups flour plus additional 2 tablespoons – I imagine the author just separated these rather than one long ingredient line. Came out perfect! Used instant dry yeast (not sure what bread makers yeast is in New Zealand) and it came out perfect! So flavourful and fluffy. Wouldn’t hurt to finely minced garlic in there for extra kick next time. Tastes exactly like my Aunties that I grew up with and her recipe never worked for me (or did she set me up!? :O ) Saving this for sure.
The bread is so soft and light. I did use freshly dried rosemary which did affect the potency of it. We actually like this with no herbs and just use it for sandwiches. You could use any herbs though, I joked and said to substitute a couple tablespoons of water with pickle juice and my kids and husband think I should give it a try.
Made this recipe as is and it was absolutely DELICIOUS!!
Wow! Delicious bread! The whole house smelled like a sub shop. Yum. My three-year-old has been wanting to help me in the kitchen as she’s aged. I’m teaching her canning, so I figured she’s also probably ready for baking. I bought a bread machine to simplify our lives so she can just pour in the ingredients and claim the bread as her own creation with minimal help from Mommy.
One reviewer asked what the extra flour was for — I just added it to the rest of the flour. After making it once, I used one teaspoon of garlic salt and 3/4 teaspoon of regular salt. I also doubled the rosemary (personal preference) and the oregano. This made the bread much more “herby”. I’m not a huge basil fan, so I left that the same. My settings for my Cuisanart Automatic Bread Maker are for a two pound loaf, light crust color. I used 1 and 3/4 teaspoon of yeast, and did not cut the flour. The loaf was done without the extra at the top, as some cooks have experienced. A great basic recipe that you can herb-up based on your preferences or the main dish you are making to accompany.
Years ago my eldest daughter made me a packaged herb bread I feel in love with. Unfortunately they stopped selling it. I made this recipe exactly as it is and honestly don’t think it could be any better!! My grandkids even love it and they are very picky eaters. Thank you so much for sharing this easy recipe. I will be making this often.
This worked great. I’m at 6400 feet, so I reduced the flour by 1/4 cup, removed a pinch of yeast from one packet and kept true to the rest of the recipe. Turned out perfect using my Cuisinart compact breadmaker set for light crust and 2 lb loaf. Delicious! I had it with my dinner last night warm. This morning I toasted a couple pieces and ate them buttered with my morning avocado omelet. This afternoon, I had a couple slices drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with course fresh ground pepper. So far, the olive oil and pepper has been my favorite.
Used 20ml honey, 1tsp Italian seasoning instead of basil (I was out), and added 1/2 tsp fine garlic powder
Excellent!! We love the flavour so much and even added some parmesan cheese and garlic to the recipe. Our favourite now!
My family likes this bread very much. I have also made it adding a tablespoon of ground sun dried tomato + subbing 1/2 cup rye flour- perfect for making avocado toast!
I took the advice from other reviews and only put in 1 tbsp sugar. it was perfect.
I make this bread probably once per week! I will say, I don’t need 2 tsp of yeast. It makes the crumb too airy (and makes the bread overgrow my machine’s container!). 1 tsp gives a beautiful crumb and just enough rise. It’s very good!
Exactly as advertised- delicious.
If you want to use this as regular bread then don’t use herbs, and the times that I have made it I didn’t put herbs in it. And that works out for me, definitely a good recipe!?
I made the recipe as written. Turned out delicious. Great balance of the herbs not overwhelming. It was a great accompaniment to homemade chicken noodle soup. The bread was perfect.
I made this bread with an herbed butter and everyone loved it.
I added garlic and it was great
Excellent. Didn’t change a thing. Very flavorful. Did not reach the top of the bread machine like others had complained about.
I changed up the herbs a bit.
My family devoured this in 2 days.
