There is no mix used in this scratch-made cornbread recipe. Chili, ribs, or grilled chicken make for a delicious feast. This sweet, handmade cornbread might even be used to make stuffing for your Thanksgiving meal! This is a dish my mother made for me when I was younger and is now a family favorite. Serve with your preferred spread, such as butter, jam, or honey.

I added frozen corn, cutting back slightly on the milk.
It was delicious! This will be a permanent recipe in my recipe book!
This recipe does have a great flavor but not as moist as I had hoped. I did it in both a cupcake pan and an 11” round baker. I couldn’t find my 9”.
Easy to make. Better then jiffy. I use this recipe cut back milk and use 1/3 c. And use a can cream corn and 8oz. Of shredded cheese and can of chili’s. Its raw bomb
Followed recipe as is and the crust is the best part
I have been looking for a sweeter cornbread, and this is it! I was moist, and delicious.
I made it. Used coconut milk and brown sugar. Superb recipe. Moist and in the oven right now. Definitely a must use.
Very yummy. I used butter for oil. I used 1/2 cup of sugar and it was sweet enough for me. Came out perfect. Thank you for this recipe!
It’s perfect
This is the BEST cornbread recipe!!!! It is super easy and comes out perfectly cooked every time! Not too crumbly but also not too dense 🙂 I cook mine in a greased cast iron skillet. I love it with some butter and honey. Yum!!!
I followed the recipe to the T; that was some of the best cornbread I’ve ever had!! Thank you for sharing your recipe! I wasn’t able to take a picture since it went so quickl!!
Moist, sweet and delicious. It was the first thing that was gone at our fried chicken family dinner. Cant wait to make it to have with a BBQ country ribs meal!
Perfect and beautiful
I made this for the first time yesterday and followed the instructions exactly but I baked it in my air fryer. I baked it at 360° for 25 minutes. Unfortunately when I pulled it out and flipped it onto a plate the bottom was still raw and in the middle. I was able to slide the cornbread back into my air fryer and cooked it for another 10 minutes. It was fully cooked by then but looked like it was ran over by a car. LOL I made tamale pie that night so I just crumbled the cornbread over the top and my husband inhaled it down. He loved it! I would’ve preferred a better presentation but it tasted amazing so at least I know now for the future how long to bake it in the air fryer.

Great base for cornbread! A few changes on my end to make it less crumbly and more balanced with the sweetness. I split the sugar ratio to a third white sugar, a third brown sugar, and a third honey. Decreased the amount of baking powder to 3 tsp. Had to bake it for closer to 30 minutes, and laid of piece of foil on in the last 10 to prevent burning.
Thank you, This is my go-to recipe. I make a cornbread every Sunday!! It tastes delicious, but I only add a pinch of salt.
We love this! I added a touch of real maple syrup. Will be making this again
Made this for the first time with my grandson came out well but we added 1/2 a cup of honey it was super moist and super sweet.
I’ve made this about 6 or so times now I’ve used honey and sugar as well as different corn meal and it comes out great every time
Love this recipe!! I tweak it a little bit by adding honey and a can of creamed corn
