Level: Easy
Total: 2 hr 20 min
Active: 20 min
Yield: 24 rolls

Ingredients

  1. 4 sticks butter
  2. 24 frozen, unbaked dinner rolls
  3. 16 cloves garlic, finely pressed
  4. Coarse sea salt

Instructions

  1. Melt 1/2 stick of the butter and brush the muffin trays with the melted butter. Place the frozen rolls in the muffin pans. Cover and allow to rise for several hours.
  2. Melt the remaining 3 1/2 sticks butter in a skillet over medium-low heat, add the pressed garlic to the butter. Cook for a couple of minutes to release the flavor but don’t let the garlic brown.
  3. After rising, lightly brush the rolls with the garlic butter and sprinkle with the sea salt.
  4. Bake the rolls according to package directions (usually 400 degrees F for 6 to 8 minutes), until the rolls are a deep golden brown on top.
  5. Remove the rolls from the oven, dab with more garlic butter and serve warm.

As also your recipes are always a hit. Love the rolls making them for Christmas dinner.

I made these last weekend for a BBQ Rib cookout with friends.  They were a huge hit.  I only used 1/2 as much butter and garlic, though.  I made 12 with the course sea salt topping and the other 12 with my “everything” seasoning.  I can’t  to try them again.  Maybe Thanksgiving.  Thanks, Ree, I always look to your recipes when I want to try something new.  I also enjoy your TV show.  I try to never miss an episode with the help of my DVR.

On every recipe, use less of salt, butter,  sugar, spices… taste always.. add more to your taste…  😉  I never go by all the additions added to a complete recipe… 😉

I am going to make these with Roasted Garlic instead of regular.

Great idea, great concept, but absurd amount of butter and garlic — it just isn’t necessary and you’ll have a greasy mess which isn’t fun to serve or eat. That said, infusing these preformed frozen rolls with butter, garlic, and your favorite chopped herbs is a winner.  Just use common sense as to amounts — and a pound of butter for 24 rolls —  is not common sense.  When is the last time you spread 2 full tablespoons of butter to eat your dinner rolls?  A little knife full at best, right?  If you consider the serving size is roughly 2 rolls per person, a pound of butter is being drenched over 12 servings of 2 rolls each, so that’s about 2 tablespoons of butter per person.   I’m not even considering the fat gram health issue — I’m not the fat police — it’s just the GACK factor. You can make this recipe with JUST ONE STICK for the entire bag of rolls!  Pass more butter at the table if you need it.

I have made these several times.  I have learned that you do not need to use 16 cloves of garlic to infuse the butter with flavor.  I also use less butter.

Absolutely amazing!! These were the best garlic rolls ever and oh so easy to make! I cut the recipe down since it’s just me and my husband. So glad I did because we would of ate all 24 of them by ourselves!! Definitely a keeper!!! Thanks Ree!!

Question. I have made these rolls many times, and I love them! I noticed this episode she had them in what looked like a cupcake pan. Does that keep them from getting to large? Curious as sometimes mine puff up quite a bit.
