Easy Two-Ingredient Naan

  4.7 – 55 reviews

Despite not being a true, traditional naan bread, this two-ingredient version works great in a pinch.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 20 mins
Total Time: 30 mins
Servings: 8

Ingredients

  1. 1 ¼ cups self-rising flour, or more as needed
  2. 1 cup whole-milk Greek yogurt

Instructions

  1. Mix self-rising flour and Greek yogurt together in a large bowl until combined. Transfer to a lightly floured work surface and knead until smooth, adding more flour as necessary to keep dough from sticking, 2 to 3 minutes.
  2. Pat dough into a rough 9×7-inch rectangle. Divide into 8 equal pieces. Lightly dust each piece with flour and flatten into a semi-rectangular shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Lightly grease a large skillet and place it over medium heat. Add 1 or 2 of the flattened dough pieces to the skillet. Cook until they begin to bubble and brown, 2 to 4 minutes. Flip over and cook an additional 2 to 4 minutes. Remove from heat and repeat with remaining dough until all pieces are cooked. Serve warm.
  4. Cooking these flatbreads can be a bit of a smoky process! Make sure to have a window open or a stove vent on just in case.
  5. I use a homemade self-rising flour mix where, for every 1 cup of all-purpose flour, I add a 1/2 teaspoon salt and 2 teaspoons baking powder to make it “self-rising.”

My Pakistani husband would have loved these, daughter and I agree they are AMAZING, added a generous amount of garlic powder. Going to experiment with different seasonings. Satisfying and so much less expensive than the store bout or restaurant.

Made this yesterday. Was a little more chewy than the naan I prefer. My son, helped, he thought it was good.

So easy, and so delicious! My family loves this recipe.

I’ve made this twice now and it is so easy. I ran out of yogurt and used sour cream the second time which worked great.

Followed the dough directions verbatim. Added about 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic and the finely minced tops of 6-7 green onions. They puffed up beautifully with a tender interior and a slightly crisped crust. They went well with the leftover red lentil soup and romaine salad. This recipe is now in my Keepers collection.

Quick, easy and light and delicious. I won’t be buying naan or pitta bread again.

Made it with Honey Yogurt (It is what I use to make overnight oats) so it turned out sweet. It was so good! Just a light taste of sweetness that made me want a cup of coffee with it. I would make this for a grab and go breakfast item for sure.

It comes out so tasty just for two ingredients, wow, so glad I found this recipe because I’ve been buying Naan at Costco in large batches to have at home, now I can make my own!

I thought this was an easy recipe and everyone in the family loved it. In a pinch I would make this again.

It was fabulous. I used a plant-based greek yoghurt and it was perfect. Also, I had no self-raising flour so I did the substitute of all-purpose flour and baking powder, again, perfect. i am looking forward to adding garlic, salt, and herbs the next time.

We all loved it!

As someone who loves naan, I had to try this recipe. They are very easy to make. I mixed the dough in my stand mixer and flipped it out onto parchment to work. I initially greased my skillet with cooking spray but the first naan was a little too greasy, the rest turned out perfect! I didn’t have any issues with smoking, I kept the temp med to med-low and cooked about 3 minutes a side.

I made this following the recipe except I used the KitchenAid mixer instead of kneading by hand. I’m not sure what Naan actually is, but this was so good! I didn’t make it for any purpose (not for dipping anything), but I dipped it in some butter and it was amazing! Very easy and will make again for sure!!

Very easy. I believe mine was too thick, so next time, I’ll pat it out a little thinner. The taste was good, I was very happy with the recipe and the results.

Loved this! I don’t need to make a trip to the store anymore. The recipe worked perfect as written for me and no smoke.

So long as you aren’t expecting a spot-on version of naan, this is a ridiculously easy and delicious way to get flatbread on the table in almost no time flat. I halved the recipe since I live in a 2 person household, and it was perfect. Took me about 20 minutes start to finish, and the resulting bread was slightly tangy, super tender, and perfect for a whole host of applications. I ended up pan-frying them in about a teaspoon of oil each, which resulted in a lovely quasi-flour gordita effect. 10/10 will make again, especially since I’m trying to make as many things at home as possible while grocery prices are so high!!

Simple and delicious! Used organic olive oil to cook in and the finished product had the smell and flavor of a fresh baked biscuit while being tender and chewy.

Easy and quick recipe! I had no plain yoghurt, so I used tama Valley mango. Sooo delicious with curry! A+++++

I made it exactly as the recipe indicated and loved it. Next time I will add some garlic and seasoning. Wasn’t as smokey as I thought it would be cooking it – which was nice.

I will be making this again since 4 personal sized pieces cost $3.50 in my area. So very easy and I am not a ‘bread’ maker. I used a rolling pin and got them pretty thin. But they still got the bubbles and nice brown spots.
