Despite what the recipe might have you believe, these biscuits are tasty and not particularly fattening. You won’t need any toppings because the biscuits are so delicious and the recipe calls for just one stick of butter throughout!

Ingredients
- ½ cup butter
- 4 ½ cups baking mix (such as Bisquick ®)
- 1 cup lemon-lime soda (such as 7-Up®)
- 1 cup sour cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Put butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish and place dish in the preheating oven until butter is melted.
- Mix baking mix, lemon-lime soda, and sour cream together in a bowl until dough holds together and is sticky. Turn dough onto a floured work surface and roll into 1-inch thick circle. Cut circles out of dough using a cookie cutter or the rim of a wine glass and place in the melted butter.
- Bake in the preheated oven until biscuits are golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes. Remove dish from oven and let stand until biscuits have absorbed all the butter.
- You can use as little as 4 cups Bisquick, but I found it too hard to work with the dough when it was that sticky.

These biscuits are awesome. Used more Bisquick to flour my pastry mat and the sticky dough problem was solved. I also used for strawberry shortcake. Yummy!
I just tried this recipe for the first time, and my biscuits turned out great! Yes the dough is sticky, but I used a little flour when rolling out. The bottoms are a little crumbly, but so buttery good. Next time I will dip the tops of the biscuits in the hot butter before placing in the pan so the tops don’t look flour-ey. Since there is only my husband and myself, I will try to save some of the batter until the next day. If that doesn’t work, I will split the recipe.
They were delicious. I just dropped them by the spoonful into the pan and they came out great.
I don’t even knead it. Just put it in the pan and bake them.. cut like you would a cake.
Best I have ever had! I have made this recipe many times and they always are a big hit with the eating crowd! I love the crispy top and buttery crispy bottoms. I find it easier to shape prepared dough into a 9×13 shape and cut dough into 3 squares across and 4 down. Have also done in a 9×9 for bigger biscuits. That way there is no wasted dough.
SUPER EASY recipe! My very first time making homemade biscuits, and they were a hit! Mama loved them!
Excellent but really sticky dough. Think I’ll add more Bisquick or flour next time. Didn’t roll out. Just short of flattened and used large wine glass to cut. Divided between two glass pie plates. Ty loved them.
I love it because it makes big biscuits. However wasn’t able to roll it out so I would grab a half of a handful knead it in my hands shape it and put it in the pan. Also they are a little crumbly. What can be done about them crumbling?
I LOVE THEM ❤️ I’ve made these before and they were a big hit, but didn’t rate them then. So now I’m leaving a five star rating, but wishing I could leave a ten. Everyone wants the recipe now.
Finally tried these biscuits and really like them. You first get a nice biscuit taste, then the butter flavor pops and makes it even better. They are too easy to make! I usually make a half batch and it nearly fills my 9 x 13 pan. I also usually end up adding a bit of biscuit mix just for ease of rolling and cutting. The recipe is very forgiving.
I made them with Carbquick , sour cream and lemon lime seltzer. I brushed them with garlic butter and ranch seasoning. This is the best recipe evah!!!!
I read someone thought they were sticky. When I told someone else they were to sticky. He said you don’t roll them out. Spoon them in the pan. Easiest way to make biscuits
I was very disappointed in the first batch bc the butter burned in the pan and turned the bottom of the Biscuits black. I used a regular cookie sheet wiped with vegetable oil for the second batch and they were great !
I have made these biscuits for years and have no intention of ever using another recipe. The only change I make is I cut down on the butter to about 5 Tbsp just to avoid some of the fat and cholesterol. I know myself; I will eat too many of them!
This will be our new holiday morning breakfast with eggs and coffee!! Easy and delicious!! For anyone having trouble, just flour your counter and I rimmed my glass with alittle oil to cut the biscuits. Super easy and everyone is loving them!
Yummy. I didn’t have sour cream so I used 1 cup cottage cheese mixed with 1 tbls milk and 1 tsp lemon juice.
Excellent recipe! Yes it’s sticky, as it should be! It’s worth it in the end when you get the awesome finished product! My husband begs me to make these now!
I made these and they are easy and delicious!! So so good!
Wonderful biscuit! I made a half batch because there are only 3 of us. I used Greek yogurt which works great in lieu of sour cream. I also added garlic powder and cheddar to make cheddar biscuits. The dough is so wonderful, I just spooned it and formed the biscuits by hand. Absolutely magnificent!
So easy and so perfect! I had all the ingredients, didn’t have to worry about buttermilk or cutting the butter using a pastry blender or whatever. My family raved about them. Perfect texture. Just turn the sticky dough onto a floured surface and pat the dough flat. Made 8 BIG biscuits. My go-to biscuit recipe, after trying quite a few.
Used this recipe this morning. Turned out great! Thanks so much for sharing your recipe!
