I couldn’t find my recipe so tried this one with the addition of 2 T of cinnamon and about a half cup of raisins. I also brushed the tops with cream and cinnamon crispies (from a different recipe). These were superb! Very soft texture and easy to add extras!

I liked this a lot! Very simple to make! I am going to try next time with a bit more salt but otherwise, I’m gonna keep it the same!

Recipe is great as is. Why would you change the recipe to 3/4 cup of sugar???? If you wanted a cookie, just make a cookie.

I never change a recipe the first time I make it. This was a very easy recipe; my yr old granddaughter made them with me. Served with wineberry jam and lemon curd, they were delicious! No need for changes
Kendra Hopkins
Pretty easy and came out great. Used 1/2 cup of sugar and made it round, cutting it into 8 pieces like a pizza. Will make it again!

I’ve made 6 of the scone recipes from this wonderful site, most more than 3 times and this is by far my favorite scone recipe. Always use cold butter and they turn out so yummy!

Instead of triangles I did them round. Very good

Perfection. I made these exactly per instructions, except for size. I used a 2-1/2″ cookie/biscuit cutter and it made 12. To have them look like the photo, I’d suggest rolling them out to 1/2″ thickness since they rise quite a bit. They were done at 10 mins., although I might check them at 9 in the future. Excellent scone, very tender and not gaggy-sweet and I’m pleased with myself for this first-ever effort. Thank you, MirrorMask for a treat that reminds me of a trip to the UK. I’ll definitely make these again!

Loved it, made several different types & it adapted well. I made sweet ones & savory ones for work & home. They were a hit. I made them into flat rounds & but into quarters for a couple bites for them.

I loved it! the scone wasn’t too dense, and it had the perfect amount of sweetness. I added a little more milk than called for, and some cinnamon. It is good with clotted cream, and Apple butter. Not everyone may think that this recipe is awesome, but my baking skills are perfectly mediocre, so these turned out really good for me. All in all, loved the recipe, will use it again _BlueBaker

These were very good and very easy to make. I did add 3/4 cup sugar, as others suggested and thought it was a tad too sweet. Next time I might try 1/2 cup instead. Thanks for the recipe!

These scones were easy to make and tasted very good. I did use more sugar, 1/4 cup, and added some dried cranberries. Next time I may use a different dried fruit, maybe raisins or dried cherries.
Jessica Scott
yummy but i added 1/4 cup of sugar and also brushed the tops with a cream & sugar mix.

Super easy! I added dark chocolate and nuts to mine and in my oven it needed 20 mins at 200c. They came out perfect.

this is a great recipe to use, i put blueberrys in to, and they were great, making it right now!!

Great biscuits, but they really don’t taste “sconish” to me.They are still good with a cuppa tea and my favorite orange marmalade

This has been a favorite of mine for awhile! (In fact, I pretty much made an allrecipies account just so that I could comment on this one recipe. 🙂 ) When I was sent a link for this recipe, the suggested variation was to double the sugar, and add 2 tsp of vanilla and 1/2 to 3/4 cup of chocolate chips. They come out so nicely!

was great. also can use bread four. only thing was, mine grew like 3 inches in height
Ryan Smith
This scones are very yummy. I did use 3/4 cup of sugar instead of the 1 TB called for.
Jeffrey Gomez
Amazing. I also used 1/4 cup sugar and added cranberries and chocolate chips.

These were nice; they tasted more like a biscuit than a traditional scone, though. I added 1/2 cup chopped fresh strawberries, and made a glaze using powdered sugar, strawberry jam and milk. Next time I will add more sugar to the dough.
