This recipe makes soft hot dog buns that may also be used to create hamburger buns. According to my husband, they are “top of the line.”

swopped one cup white to whole wheat and substituted some oats for flour. was too lazy to melt ingredients in the pan. used hot water as per recipe instead
I tried this recipe, and the 3rd time, I got it right! It took me awhile to figure out how to shape the dough (watched the video a few times), but the taste is always fantastic! I ended up doing the egg wash on top, and turned out great! My husband loves these!
I wasn’t impressed with this recipe. The dough came out the heavy and hard. The exact opposite of what burger buns should be.
I have been a baker for some time. The first batch were dense and didn’t rise. 2nd batch I made how I bake I bloomed the yeast in the 1/2 cup of warm water and the 2 tsp of sugar. Came out much better soft rose good. I have never made anything that takes yeast without blooming it 1st.
I have been making this recipe for about one year now, they came out perfect. I added about quarter teaspoon turmeric got a yellow look and very healthy. Thank you.
Simple and perfect. I do two rises usually. Trying just one tonight. My go to bun recipe.
Wonderful recipe. Came out amazing.
Received compliments on the recipe and it came out better then I had expected.
After 3rd try this buns came out soft, fluffy and nice as it should. I used convection oven still baked at 400 but for 8 min. Nice easy recipe, it tasted pretty good! Very versatile recipe and you can add herbs or other ingredients to kick it up a notch!
These have a very good flavor. They take a long rise time to get them as light and fluffy as you would want. My flour was probably very dry because I had to add an extra half cup of milk to get the dough to form a ball.
I have been baking bread for 40 years and this recipe qualifies for the effort of Ho-made. It will enhance any sandwich. I substituted one cup flour with one cup of high quality rye. I will always be true! Best hot dogs ever.
Quick, easy and delicious. I never use instant yeast and for this recipe I didn’t even proof it. Mixed dry ingredients, added wet and ran on #2 on my Kitchen Aide until the dough was silky and smooth (about 10 minutes). Formed 70 gram biscuits and baked at 400 for 12 minutes. Delish. I bake artisan breads, sourdough and specialty breads quite regularly and this was a pleasant surprise. No work, or wait at all.
Turned out super dense and super flat! Very dissapointing given that kids were waiting for them.
Great texture! I did put the dough in an oiled bowl for half and hour for a first rise before shaping. The second rise took about half an hour.
I love this recipe,so easy to make.i have made them many times and always turn out great. I Bake them for 20 minutes on top rack
I dump all of the ingredients in the bread machine and use the dough setting. Afterwards, when I’m dividing the dough for buns, I weigh each dough ball to make sure they are all the same size. Great recipe!
Pretty tasty recipe. Instead of making rectangles, I just rolled them to about a 2” diameter “snake” (like with play dough). That seemed to work better.
Easy to prepare with yummy product.
Love this recipe! Probably made it dozens of times. Today I forgot the egg, and they still came out great ??
Easy and tasty! Second time I’ve made these, and both times I was successful. I did not have milk, so I used 3/4 c. Kefir watered down with 1/4 c. Water. The buns freeze well. Totally worth it.
Wonderful buns! Made both hamburger and hot dog buns= great!
