I made a double batch and shared with our neighbor, brother, and my mom. Our dog and the other three dogs loved the treats! Will make again!

Have any of you ever looked at the ingredient list on dog food? Right up near the top of the list, you will find Garlic Salt. Do you think the manufacturers are trying to poison every dog on the planet? I don’t think so!! Why would they want to put themselves out of business?

If you are trying to introduce a different food to your dog and Rover is being persnickety and sticking his nose up at it, just add some garlic salt to it. All of a sudden, Rover is verrrrry interested!! Dogs LOVE garlic!!

Do make sure that you are using garlic SALT, not garlic POWDER.

A lot of canned pet food manufacturers add garlic as a regular ingredient.
In response to the review called “Danger”

Dr. Richard Pitcairn, probably the preeminent authority on providing home made food for dogs and cats has garlic as an acceptable ingredient:

“Garlic helps to eliminate worms, strengthen digestion, and beneficially stimulate the intestinal tract. Use it to promote intestinal health. It is also indicated for animals that have been on a high meat or fish diet, and th9se that tend to be overweight or suffer hip pain from arthritis or dysplasia. Include fresh, rated garlic with each meal, using ? – 3 cloves, depending on the animal’s size. Cats can be given a ? clove a day.”

He has been providing home made recipes to address health issues in pets for 27 years. This quote is from his most recent book in its third edition. It’s tried and true.

It sounds very good… however, garlic is a poison to the canine metabolism. If you’re going to make a treat for the dog… SKIP the garlic!
