Sirloin Steak with Garlic Butter

  4.4 – 708 reviews  • Sirloin Steak Recipes

The butter in this recipe for sirloin steak is extremely garlicky and makes the meat melt in your mouth. No other steak I’ve ever tasted has even come close to this recipe. Don’t sacrifice flavor when eating steak to save a few calories.

Prep Time: 20 mins
Cook Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 30 mins
Servings: 8

Ingredients

  1. ½ cup butter
  2. 4 cloves garlic, minced
  3. 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  4. 4 pounds beef top sirloin steaks
  5. salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat and lightly oil the grate.
  2. Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat; stir in minced garlic and garlic powder. Set aside.
  3. Season both sides of each steak with salt and pepper.
  4. Place steaks on preheated grill and cook 4 to 5 minutes per side. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 140 degrees F (60 degrees C) for medium doneness.
  5. Transfer steaks to warmed plates; brush the tops liberally with garlic butter and allow to rest for 2 to 3 minutes before serving.

This is a great way to BBQ beef. The butter and garlic lend a different but pleasing taste. I prefer steak cooked medium so I added a couple of minutes to the cooking time. ENJOY

I only used fresh garlic and it was great. I did not use powdered garlic after reading other reviews.

A great steak only needs salt and pepper. If you’re going to do garlic, pick either fresh OR powder, not both. Garlic is great, but this is overkill.

I didn’t have a working grill available to me so I cooked this for two in my air fryer using two petite sirloin steaks. I didn’t use the garlic cloves but followed the rest of the recipe for the sauce. Spread the sauce on the steaks before cooking, and cooked at a preheated 400 degrees for two minutes per side. Paused my fryer and tested for doneness with an IR thermometer. Removed when temp. was rare and let sit for about five minutes while I put the rest of dinner on the table. Added a bit more sauce and served with garlic mashed potatoes and a salad. Yum! I realize that this cooking method is not for everyone, and results might vary, but it worked for me with what I had available at the time. Grilling would be preferable.

This was absolutely delicious. I halved the recipe which worked great. In order to help tenderize the meat about an hour before cooking the steaks, I placed them in a ziplock bag with 1 tsp cornstarch and 1/2 tsp baking soda making sure to rub the mixture into the steaks. After an hour, I washed off and patted dry each steak before grilling. My family loved it and the steaks were tender and delicious. Thank you so much for this recipe which I will definitely make again. I served this with baked potatoes and steamed broccoli. Yum!

Made this tonight. A 4 rating for me means it was great, would recommend it, and will make it again (I reserve 5’s for exception dishes). One change I made… my wife is not a fan of garlic so I sautéed onions in the butter and used some onion power instead (but still through in a couple of cloves in for good measures). Cooked on a 450 deg grill for 5-6 min a side for medium (compromise for the house, thought I would prefer medium rare).

Easy and taste great!

Delicious, but the second time I made this, I let the cooked steaks marinate in the hot butter dish for almost 10 minutes. Even better!

Too much garlic powder!!! Don’t do it.

I just made this tonight for my husband and he said it was the best he’s had in a long time! I didn’t have any garlic cloves (this was a last minute dinner choice). I also made extra sauce and poured it over the potato wedges I made and wow – talk about delicious!!

Five stars for flavor! I’d take 1/2 star off, if I could, for technique. I sauteed the garlic in the butter as it melted, totally forgot the garlic powder, and added 1T chopped fresh parsley because I could. Grilled the steak 3 minutes per side, brushing with butter on the first flip, and it was perfect medium rare. Liberally added butter mixture while it rested. Next time I may try some fresh thyme.

Easy to make and delicious!

I did a variation of this recipe, with a chèvre goat cheese on top! I basted the sirloin in garlic butter, before finishing it in the oven. Great recipe! Can easily be tweaked.

Loved it!
