It was enough for me for weekend but I have 3 others to share with sad lol

I only had beef tips, 2 lbs. I doubled the sauce as we like gravy. Although the beef was tender, I had to greatly add more ginger, granulated onion, black pepper and vinegar–a lot of vinegar, finally switching to apple cider vinegar. I used a cornstarch slurry to obtain a gravy consistency. My rating is based on the taste before all the doctoring.

In a house with 4 teenage boys who are carnivores, meat is a must on a daily! I adjusted to recipe to 8 persons. It was an absolute hit. Next time the meal will be full blown German with Purple cabbage and Spätzle. That gravy though….WOW, Even caught the wife wiping the pan with a chunk of bread, even after she said she was full. This recipe is a keeper. Thanks for sharing it.

Easy to do and good, but not as good as “real sauerbraten” that is marinated for 48 hours

We love this recipe! All the flavors of sauerbraten without planning a week in advance! The only variations I ever make are to use apple cider vinegar in stead of red wine vinegar, since I always have that on hand, and instead of water I use beef stock for a flavor boost. If I have them on hand, I’ll toss in a handful of Golden raisins. But it’s yummy as written.

so easy to put together. I throw it in the oven for 90 min and it makes a tough piece of meat fall-a-part good! even my picky kids love it. we hardly have any leftovers!

Delicious ! Only change was to use red wind instead of red wine vinegar. Used slow cooker. My go to from now on. Thank you!

A very tasty meal! I made it in my crockpot by putting the meat in and topping it with the remaining mixed ingredients. It turned out very tender and flavorful. As others suggested, I did up the Worcestershire, vinegar, and salt a touch for my taste. I also didn’t have a brown gravy packet so I used some beef broth base and cornstarch. Delish!

Prep times actually about 40 minutes cause you have to cut your meat and you can’t do that and everything else in 15 minutes?

This review was given while being on a lock down due to the pandemic. I haven’t gone into a grocery store for 7 weeks so I was so happy to see that I happened to have all of the ingredients on hand for this recipe. It was delicious and a nice change of pace. I have no idea what sauerbraten is suppose to taste like because I’ve never eaten it before but my family really enjoyed thIs. I made it exactly as written.

Yummmy, added sauteed onions, may not saute next time for more flavor. Served with mashed potato’s and roasted broccoli!

This turned out very tender and delicious. Easy to make. I doubled the recipe for 6 of us and it was just right. Did the recipe as given. Browned the meat in a Dutch oven on top of stove and completed the instructions and then put the lid on in oven at 350 for an hour and lid off at 300 for another half hour. Next time may just leave lid on entire time at lower temp. Great one for entertaining.

I set up an account on here just to give this review. I’ve probably used 25+ recipes from this site and just now have come across the best. It is so savory and sweet. It’s the perfect balance. I didn’t have ginger and it was still amazing! The steak came out perfectly, the sauce was insanely good. We served simple sides of broccoli & macaroni. I used a couple slices of buttered bread to sop up the remaining sauce. It was that good! Kids had seconds! This will become a staple in my house. It’s so simple! Slice up the steak, brown it, make the sauce, and simmer for an hour while you make your sides. What an awesome recipe! THANKS!

I did something wrong. Did not have good flavor.

The meat was tender but the sauce was to watery.
