London Broil I

  4.6 – 410 reviews  • Round Steak Recipes

This soup is filling enough to serve as a main course because it is packed with beans and corn. Use pre-made tortilla chips as a topping to save time.

Prep Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 15 mins
Additional Time: 8 hrs
Total Time: 8 hrs 30 mins
Servings: 6
Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

  1. 3 cloves garlic, minced
  2. ½ cup soy sauce
  3. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  4. 2 tablespoons ketchup
  5. 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  6. 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  7. 1 (2 pound) flank steak or round steak

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together garlic, soy sauce, oil, ketchup, oregano, and black pepper. Pierce meat with a fork on both sides. Place meat and marinade in a large resealable plastic bag. Refrigerate 8 hours, or overnight.
  2. Preheat grill for medium-high heat.
  3. Lightly oil the grill grate. Place steak on the grill, and discard marinade. Cook for 5 to 8 minutes per side, depending on thickness. Do not overcook, as it is better on the rare side.

I’ve made this several times. It’s absolutely the best marinade for London broil. I have top round London broil. 4 lbs. I just got them on sale for $1.99 lb. I add extra garlic because I love garlic.

Made this with two substitutions – sugar free ketchup and tamari instead of soy sauce. Everything else was exactly as directed and it was fantastic!!! Will definitely make this again. Thanks!!!

Excellent! I stabbed it with a fork then used 2 tbsp of balsamic vinegar over the meat as previous reviews mentioned then followed the recipe, minus the ketchup and oregano. I marinated it for only 2 hours. Baked it for 20 minutes at 350 degrees, then broiled it for 5 minutes on each side. I turned out to be very tasty and surprisingly tender and best yet, it was so easy! My family loved it, and my kids even asked me to make it again for the next day. I didn’t but loved that they loved it. Will make again soon.

This was oh, so tender! Hubby said he prefers this to a sirloin steak! I have a tenderizing device that I used before I put it into the marinade for 6 hours in the fridge. Only difference in marinade was I substituted fresh garlic for garlic powder. After marinading, I brought it to room temp and then grilled it on my Webber grill … 10 minutes direct, flipped it and then 10 minutes indirect. My London Broil was almost 3” thick. I have an instant read thermometer and I took the meat off at 127 degrees and let it continue cooking while it rested. We like our beef cuts more rare and this was PERFECT. See photo. This recipe is a definite keeper!!

the marinade in this recipe made my Superbowl great. people who say they do not like steak couldn’t get enough. (apparently there are people who don’t like steak, who knew?). thank you for your recipe ??

It was delicious but I also think a thicker steak and a little more salt will not hurt it

So quick and easy, full of flavor. Everyone loved it. I smoked mine at 400 for 40 minutes turned out amazing! First time but not the last I ever made a london broil.

Kids were all thumbs up!

I made this recipe and it was tasty and delicious! Next time I will marinate longer since I didn’t have 8 hours to cook it.

I had a 3 lb roast, I used extra garlic (as usual for me), didn’t have the full time to let it soak in the marinade, and roasted in the oven. Still turned out very good. 425 for 15 min and finished had 350 until temp was right. Will do this again hopefully with more time for the marinade to work. Also the juices loaded up with lots of carmelized onion made a good sauce to use with it.

Need to use lower sodium soy sauce next time

This recipe is really good. I don’t use the oregano because I prefer it that way. We use this recipe whenever London broil is on sale. You can cut really thin slices with an electric carving knife. Everyone loves it!

Made it on my grill pan indoors. Turned out delicious!

I typically use this recipe for preparing venison and it comes out great every time.
Timothy Ruiz
It was pretty good! I cooked it on the broiler in my oven with great success.

After I read all the reviews I tweaked this a little. Used olive oil instead of regular, cut back on the soy sauce to 1/3 cup and added 3 Tbsp of worchestershire sauce, and 3 slices of fresh lemon. Only marinated for 2 hours but did pierce meat with a meat fork every time I turned it. In the words of my son, this is the best London broil you’ve ever made. Thanks will do it again.

Turned out really good. Everyone loved it. Kept it in the fridge about 5 hours instead of overnight, turned out real nice.
