Broiled Flank Steak

  5.0 – 1 reviews  • Flank Steak Recipes

Ice cream can be topped with a delightful chocolate candy shell in less than five minutes using only two ingredients. I came up with this recipe after attempting recipe after recipe, each of which produced results that were either thick and sticky or rock hard. Your preferred ice cream will receive a drizzle.

Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 10 mins
Additional Time: 4 hrs 5 mins
Total Time: 4 hrs 25 mins
Servings: 10
Yield: 1 (2 1/2-pound) steak

Ingredients

  1. ½ cup vegetable oil
  2. ½ cup soy sauce
  3. 2 tablespoons water
  4. 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  5. 1 tablespoon chopped fresh ginger
  6. 2 cloves garlic, minced
  7. ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  8. 2 (2.5 pound) flank steak

Instructions

  1. Combine oil, soy sauce, water, brown sugar, ginger, garlic, and pepper in a small bowl. Mix until combined.
  2. Cut shallow slashes in a crosshatch pattern on both sides of the steak, being careful not to cut all the way through.
  3. Place steak in a low, flat dish and pour marinade on top, covering meat completely. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours, or overnight, turning steak over once.
  4. Set an oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the oven’s broiler. Remove steak from the marinade and place on a baking pan. Reserve marinade.
  5. Broil, brushing occasionally with marinade, until browned and heated through, about 5 minutes per side. Remove steak to a platter and cover loosely with foil. Let rest for at least 5 minutes. Slice into 1- to 2-inch strips across the grain.
  6. Cook steak on the grill if preferred. Grill directly on the grate, brushing occasionally with the marinade.
  7. Nutrition data for this recipe includes the full amount of marinade ingredients. The actual amount of marinade consumed will vary.

I’ve always been nervous to broil, but this recipe turned out perfectly! I followed the recipe to a T! I definitely recommend marinating the flank steak overnight and pull it out of the refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking. This was so flavorful and cooked to a perfect medium rare!
