Green beans, onions, and soft red potatoes with grilled sausage. It’s simple to grill this meal in a foil package. Furthermore, cleanup is a breeze!

Cook Time: 20 mins
Total Time: 45 mins
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  1. ¾ pound fresh green beans, trimmed and halved
  2. ½ pound red potatoes, quartered
  3. 1 large onion, sliced
  4. 1 pound smoked sausage, cut into 1 inch pieces
  5. 1 teaspoon salt
  6. 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  7. 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  8. 1 teaspoon butter
  9. ⅓ cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat.
  2. Place green beans, red potatoes, onion, and sausage on a large sheet of foil. Season with salt and pepper, sprinkle with oil, and top with butter. Tightly seal foil around the ingredients, leaving only a small opening. Pour water into the opening, and seal.
  3. Place foil packet on the preheated grill. Cook 20 to 30 minutes, turning once, until sausage is browned and vegetables are tender.

How can something so easy be so delicious?!? Our family loved it. I followed the recipe exactly. 20 minutes on the grill at 500 degrees. The potatoes and green beans were tender but not mushy. Can’t wait to have this again!

This turned out pretty well. I would recommend only cooking it 20 minutes on the grill. I did add red bell peppers which provided a bit of sweetness to the dish.

Tasted great, and open to modifications and roasting in the oven if you don’t feel like grilling. I swapped the onions for onion powder but I’ll use sweet onions next time…maybe corn on the cob, too. I’ll cut my potatoes smaller next time but I didn’t mind the minimal char I got. Will definitely make again.

Easy and quick!

So easy and surprisingly so good! We used Kielbasa and cooked in a tinfoil pan (covered) on the grill. Served with corn on the cob – also grilled! Wouldn’t change a thing and would absolutely make again and again! Easy weeknight or lazy weekend meal! Thank you!

I used original brat rather than smoked sausage. It was delicious!

I see others precooking parts of this..there is no need to precook anything, follow the instructions for the grill and it turns out perfect.

After reading all the reviews I put Pam on the tinfoil I steamed the potatoes onions and string beans then put them on the foil with the sausage cooked as directed. Upon being finished The sausage looks too white so I took the pieces out and put them on the grill for a minute. Excellent Dish.

We liked it but the timing was off for the sausage – will cooking separately and add at the end next time. Cooked sausage didn’t get brown and was done in 20 minutes, potatoes and beans weren’t quite done in that time. I added some red and yellow pepper for color and flavor and used wine instead of water. It certainly was easy to prepare, cook and enjoy.

was very fast with little clean up and it was also very good

I made this on the stovetop in a cast iron skillet. It is a great recipe for using summer produce.

This is a real crowd pleaser. I made exactly as written and I’ve made it adding a little garlic and even corn as other people have suggested. Great recipe!

This was good and easy to make! Next time we want to add some garlic for more flavor.

We love this recipe, I keep making over and over. I usually put it on a cookie sheet in the oven.

I loved this, but I wish it had included cooking times/temp for the oven also. I do not have a grill, so I cooked it in the oven at 425-450, and it took far longer than the time given for the grill on high. I ended up with it in the oven for about an hour, the last 20-30 minutes with the foil packet open to brown. It was amazing, I just wish there had been the additional cooking instructions. Thanks.

I made this tasty, quick meal in the oven! My family truly enjoyed! I will make this dish year-round!!! It’s a winner!!!

Easy, and delicious without a lot of clean up, but what is it with the salt? Maybe a bit of garlic powder and a couple of sliced cloves of fresh garlic. The sausage is loaded with salt already.
