Pork cooked in a Chinese restaurant style called char siu has a rich, sweet, and sticky coating. The term “char siu” literally translates to “fork roast” and alludes to the traditional way this meal was prepared, which involved skewering strips of seasoned pork and roasting them in a covered oven or over an open flame. This variation is simple to prepare at home on your charcoal grill and includes pork tenderloin. Serve the sweet and salty flavor over rice or noodles or enjoy it on its own.
