Ingredients

  1. 1 1/3 cups flour
  2. 1/4 cup sifted cocoa
  3. 1 cup sugar
  4. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  5. 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  6. 1 cup water
  7. 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  8. 1 teaspoon vanilla
  9. 8 ounces cream cheese
  10. 1 egg
  11. 2/3 cup sugar
  12. 6 ounces chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cupcake tins with foil liners. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa, sugar, salt and baking soda. Add 1 cup water, 1/3 vegetable oil, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 tablespoon cider vinegar and mix together. With food processor running, add cream cheese in pieces through chute. Add 1 egg, 2/3 cup sugar and transfer to a bowl. Fold in 6 ounces. chocolate chips. Fill cupcake liners 2/3 of the way full with batter. Place 1 or 2 tablespoons of cream mixture atop batter. Bake for 20 minutes.

The recipe is a bit confusing here. In the narrative it calls for 1 TBS. of cider vinegar but this is not the ingredients list. I cannot imagine cider vinegar in a cupcake recipe but maybe that is correct. Some consistency in the recipe ingredients would definitely help.
