Ingredients

  1. 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  2. 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  3. 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  4. 1 store-bought pie crust dough
  5. 2 Honeycrisp apples, sliced 1/4-inch thick
  6. 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  7. Kosher salt
  8. 1 pint dairy-free or regular vanilla ice cream
  9. 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  10. 1/2 cup candied pecans, roughly chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Combine the sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon in a small bowl and set aside. Melt 1 tablespoon butter. Spread the melted butter over the pie crust and sprinkle evenly with the cinnamon sugar. Bake until golden brown, 8 to 10 minutes. Let cool completely, then crumble and set aside.
  3. Melt the remaining tablespoon butter in a medium saute pan. Add the apples, vanilla, a pinch of salt and the remaining 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft, 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from the heat and allow to cool completely.
  4. Build your sundaes starting with the ice cream, dipping the scoop in a mug of hot water if necessary. Top with the sauteed apples, pie crust crumbles, caramel sauce and candied pecans. Serve immediately.

Thanks for sharing. This is perfect for me and will make an appearance at my Thanksgiving table.  I don’t like crust and love apples. Could you put a version with cranberries on the customer wish list please? Apples and cranberries make such good friends.

It looks like the perfect trifecta for a company dish: being able to make parts of it ahead, looking pretty, and tasting wonderful.

I love your show. You and Sunny especially have taught me so much. You make cooking more fun. I rated without trying it because I’ve made dishes that are similar enough to know it will work.
