Apple Pie Granola

  4.0 – 1 reviews  • Apple Recipes
This sweet-and-spiced granola is meant to be eaten for dessert. Cinnamon-sugar pita chips mimic golden brown pie crust, and apple chips add just the right touch of tart and sweet. Eat plain, with a spoon, or sprinkle over vanilla ice cream for twist on pie a la mode.

Yield: about 4 cups

Ingredients

  1. 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  2. 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  3. 1 3/4 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  4. 1 1/2 cups cinnamon-sugar pita chips, crushed into 1/4-inch pieces
  5. 3 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
  6. 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  7. 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  8. 1/2 teaspoon apple pie spice
  9. 1 cup apple chips, crushed

Instructions

  1. Position an oven rack in the center of the oven, and preheat to 325 degrees F. Whisk together the butter, brown sugar, maple syrup, vanilla, apple pie spice and salt in a large bowl. Add the oats, and toss until evenly coated. Spread out on a rimmed baking sheet.
  2. Bake the mixture until golden and toasted, 30 to 35 minutes, stirring about halfway through. Let cool completely on the baking sheet. Stir in the pita chips and apple chips. (The granola can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.)
