Orange-Cloved Hot Cider with Brandy

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 gallon fresh apple cider
  2. 20 whole cloves
  3. 1 navel orange
  4. One 1-inch piece fresh ginger, sliced
  5. 1 cinnamon stick
  6. 1/2 cup brandy, bourbon or rum

Instructions

  1. Heat the cider in a large saucepan or Dutch oven over low heat. Insert the cloves in the orange, spaced a little apart. Add the orange to the cider, along with the ginger and cinnamon. Bring to a boil, then remove from the heat and add the brandy.

Made this yesterday to have a treat with my mom.  The flavor was nice, and the recipe was super simple.  That said, we couldn’t really taste/feel the booze, so next time I might add a topper when when I serve.  Otherwise, nice warm drink on a cold day!
